A group of Maine legislators sent a letter Monday to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, requesting an investigation into Gov. Janet Mills (D) as a result of her numerous executive orders regarding the coronavirus crisis in which, they say, she has exceeded her executive authority.
In the letter made available to Breitbart News, the lawmakers, all Republicans, led by Maine Rep. John DeVeau, expressed gratitude to Barr for his memorandum to the Department of Justice in April, in which he directed all U.S. attorneys to be watchful of coronavirus restrictions that could violate Americans constitutional rights.
The legislators wrote:
We fully recognize the many unknowns that existed just over a month ago and the need for reasonable executive action in the face of a potentially devastating public health emergency. However, we are deeply concerned that Governor Mills has exceeded her executive authority in violation of both the Maine and United States Constitutions and continues to implement similar policies without authority or justifiable cause.

The amusement park is closing pretty soon. We see you.
I’m going to go ahead and exercise my constitutional rights by driving to Maine next week to enjoy 6 days of fishing. My friends will be flying into Bangor from San Diego to meet me there. We will have a great time enjoying quarantine in our cabin and on our boats, cooking over campfires, catching smallmouth, and consuming beverages. Janet Mills is a meaningless, toothless figure to us, the camp owner, and just about everybody else in Washington County Maine.
I hope no tragic boating accidents involving firearms occur.
Nah that happened a while back. Tragic.
“....A group of Maine legislators sent a letter Monday to U.S. Attorney General William Barr...”
Tell it to the wind.
She may well have exceeded her authority but wouldn’t that be an issue for the state courts and not the federal courts? Maybe they should start there?
Sure, like Barr is going to do something to help.
The people of Maine need to just open everything in the state. She can’t arrest or fine everyone.
