How does sedition relate to espionage? Isn’t “going easy with Vladimir” with Meveded espionage with treason? Accommodation with Iran? Why wasn’t Jonathan Pollard a traitor?
Espionage vs Treason
Espionage and treason are so very closely related that people find it difficult to determine a difference between the two. Both terms are interrelated, and one can lead to the other.
Espionage is defined as the act of spying or using spies for obtaining secret information. An act of espionage can be treason as it is a violation of a persons allegiance to ones sovereign nation. Espionage is an act where a person or an individual obtains information that is considered to be confidential or secret. When talking about treason, it is a serious betrayal of ones own nation or sovereign state.
Espionage can be called an act done for ones own country whereas treason is an act that is done against ones own country. But espionage can become treason when the person involved steals valid information from his own country and gives it to another. Espionage means stealing important documents from a government and passing them on to another government. In espionage, there are corporate bodies that hire spies or private investigators for proving some act of deceit.
As espionage is sometimes not treason, treason can also be possible without espionage. If an individual provides some information to another country without spying on his own government, then it is not treason without espionage. This kind of treason, without espionage, mainly involves supplying rewards and monetary benefits to the other nation. It may also involve the supply of arms and ammunition to another country without your government having any knowledge of it.

“Isnt going easy with Vladimir with Meveded espionage with treason? Accommodation with Iran?”
Sadly, not it is not, when it is done by the elected President. He is the one in charge of foreign policy and diplomacy, so he has a huge amount of leeway that nobody else in the country would have.
