SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTGS) A judge from outside the coastal Georgia community where Ahmaud Arbery was fatally shot has been appointed to preside over trial proceedings of the two men charged with Arbery's murder, including one defendant with close ties to law enforcement.
Court documents filed in Glynn County show that Superior Court Judge Timothy R. Walmsley was appointed to the case after all five judges in the legal circuit where Arbery was killed recused themselves. Walmsley is based in Savannah, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) north of where the slaying occurred just outside the port city of Brunswick.

Dont think he will be wearing anything but Orange for a long time.
His Pappy was and still his worst enemy
The dad is going to roll on his son.
Dad McMichael certainly did his son no favors by involving him in this situation.
Yea. I just watched it several times. Stop and started it. From the other times I saw the video it appeared to me that Travis had crossed from the drivers side to the passenger side headlight. Re-watching it now it appears that Travis doesn’t go past the drivers side headlight. It appears Arbery takes a wide left turn and runs right at Travis.
I have a question for you. If Arbery knew he wasnt doing anything wrong, why did he sprint out of the house Like Usain Bolt? That doesnt strike me as someone who lacked criminal intent.
That has no relevance because the victim unlike the defendant had a legal right to be where he was. The Bobsey Twins had no legal grounds to be following the victim with firearms attempting to affect a Citizen’s arrest. All the legal liability falls on the defendant[s] The Head of the GBI stated that they looked at the video before making the decision to obtain warrants.
Yes. Because Pappy will be out long before Junior. I don’t know how it is in Georgia but in Florida, Agg Assault just carried a nickel max. But Junior will have 3 hots and a cot which is probably more than pappa will have after the lawyers and civil law suits get through with him. “Man I wished I had stayed in my yard that day.”
Ah, yes. I’m so sorry. How could I have missed the fact that the guys in the pickup truck with guns following an unarmed man around an entire neighborhood are really the TRUE victims here. My god do you people even read this shit before you smash the Post button with your sausage fingers?
He may have had criminal intent, but he didnt actually do anything legally wrong.
Dont misunderstand me. I dont think he was pure as a wind driven jogger. I think karma caught up to him. Zero surprise if he was the alleged thief.
He just didnt do anything actionably illegal that morning.
You've evaded this question below before. Give it a shot.
If you suspected someone of casing or possibly burglarizing your neighborhood, and that person suddenly ran at you, physically attacked you and in fact attempted to disarm you, would it be reasonable to assume the armed neighbor felt extremely threatened by this person?
Btw, if ya don't think this isn't going to be brought up in court, I can't help you.
I haven’t seen,or heard,a bit of evidence that allows a reasonable person to conclude,”beyond a reasonable doubt”,that what happened that day was “murder” *or* that it was “justifiable homicide”.
I agree.
It's a nonsense question because it didn't happen in the case we are discussing. You left out the VERY important detail where the armed guys in the truck told the unarmed man to stop when they had no legal right to do so. I know you believe they did, but they didn't. So they committed aggravated assault when the MOST they should have done was call the cops and observe without interfering. With the new information about the bullshit "deputizing" by the Deputy, Arbery's family is going to be set for life at the expense of the Georgia taxpayers. And when they write about this decision in the law books I hope you take a good hard look at it.
So if you are walking down the street, and someone jumps out of a vehicle and points a gun at you, do you have the right to defend yourself by any means available to you?
Or do you always comply and get on your knees?
“Well how did he surprise them if they were about to shoot him anyways? Hmmm”
Watch the video.
“No I blow their brains about because I have right to carry and its with me at all times.”
Thanks for the honest answer and making a great case that Mr. Arbury had the right to defend himself against the accused.
“You cant and didnt see that because its not in the clip you assume that.”
You can see their heads. Arbery runs past the truck and suddenly turns lift toward Jr.
Police report,”Travis come on the guy is running down the street. Travis got his 357 and he grabbed his shotgun”
All this for an unarmed guy running down the street.
To a normal person that sounds a bit extreme,I would think.
Operative word here Normal
