There is good news for all those liberals out there enduring extreme angst over Hillary Clinton losing her race for president in 2016. In an alternate universe Hillary has a much better shot at winning that contest because she would be carrying less baggage than the real Hillary.
And the main reason is that in the alternate universe as fantasized by author Curtis Sittenfeld in her novel Rodham, due to be released on Tuesday, she dumps Bill Clinton before they even get married. Yes, apparently the reason that the real-life Hlllary has been so ethically challenged was due to Big Bad Bill, or at least that is the way Sittenfeld portrays it.

Uh....Hillary IS “the baggage”.
Uh....Hillary IS “the baggage”.
The fact is she could have dumped Bill while he was governor of Arkansas but she didn’t because of her quest for her own power and Bill was the ticket for that.
Is this like the universe in Watchmen where Nixon retained power and numerous elections?
or, one I prefer where Biff Tanen becomes a rich gambling and industrial tycoon in the Back to the Future series.
Both present dystopic consequences. I hope this author accurately predicted the negative outcome of an “unblemeshed” Hillary, but since I didn’t click the link, I’m not going to lay any money on it
She’d still small like stale urine and boiled cabbage today.
Nobody knows elitism and privilege like Curtis. She is the perfect author to write about that entitled cow, that refuses to exit stage left.
If Bill had lost in ‘92 or even ‘96 Hillary would not have been the nominee for US Senate from NY to replace Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
And without that win, nothing else.
If it wasn’t for Bill nobody would even know who she is.
Yet another reason to dislike him.
With him in control the Great Depression and the attack on the bonus marchers would not have happened. That would have meant no FDR and no Alphabets.
WWII still would have happened but we would have been in much better shape to fight it. No Yalta Conference and a much smaller Iron Curtain.
Correct. Her career would have been finished when she got fired from the Watergate Committee.
Hillary would have been just another ethically challenged attorney without Bill.
Her 15 minutes would have ended with Nixon.
What is that picture about??
Hillary was a smart girl. Had she dumped Bill in time, she would have gone back to Chicago or to some other big city — anywhere but Arkansas — to practice law. She would probably have joined a big firm, as she was always chasing the money. (Bill was glad to have money but, for him, it was an afterthought.) She would probably have made partner. The question is whether she would have stayed with it, chasing the big bucks, or dropped out as so many female attorneys (and doctors) do. That would probably have depended on whether (and how rich) she married. She would never have gotten into politics because she doesn’t have the temperament or people skills for it. Either way, she would almost certainly have been much happier than she is now. Marrying WJC was the big mistake of her life.
