Sunday on CNNs State of the Union, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said there has been no spike in coronavirus cases in the states that are reopening.
Host Jake Tapper asked, Let me ask you, this is intrigue to me because some states have been reopening despite warnings of dire consequences from health experts, states like Georgia and Colorado began reopening weeks ago, and it seems at least so far that we have not seen a dramatic spike in new cases from those two states, Georgia and Colorado. What have you seen from those states? Is there any cause for concern that they reopened early? Is it still too early to tell? Or are they taking measures such as social distancing and masks that make this reopening work?
Azar said, Jake, I think your question is very insightful. We are seeing that in areas that are opening, were not seeing the spike in cases. We still see spikes in some areas that are, in fact, closed, very localized situations. And so this is going to be very important for us to watch the circumstances on the ground. With reopening, whats the key to reopening? First, we need to have good surveillance. So we need to look for influenza-like illness and other respiratory disease. We have a great surveillance system for that. We look for spikes and early indicators. We have adequate testing capacity. We need to make sure anybody who is symptomatic is tested and that we have adequate asymptomatic surveillance in areas of greatest burden. Senior living, congregate living situations like prisons or m facilities where people are close together. So we look for early indicators. Then we use the traditional public health tools to surge in there. We would test everybody there. We would do contact...

Finally something to make Fauci shut-up.
Bill Gates is deeply saddened and so are his FR vaccination supporters!
1) Over the past couple of months virtually every death that could possibly be connected-to or attributed-to CV has been. There simply are no more bodies to be piled on, and thus no way to further inflate the numbers.
2) Depending on which study you believe, somewhere between 80% and 96% of people that get CV remain symptom free. They never know they've had it. If this is true, once you discount all the deaths falsely attributed to CV, the actual mortality rate for CV among the general population starts to look like that of the nominal flu, possibly even lower. Therefore, even if "reopening" various businesses and areas does expose more people to CV, the resulting deaths would be statistically insignificant and probably an unnoticeable blip.

And this number will increase because its the optimum strategy for the virus to spread and replicate.
No new virus-related deaths in OK since Saturday’s OSDH update. Small number of new cases, but nothing to constitute a “spike”. Very pleased & cautiously optimistic. Phase 2 of our re-opening is going well thus far.

When did OK open up?
because some states have been reopening despite warnings of dire consequences from health experts,
Maybe, we should round up these public health experts and hold their fee to a fire???
Why have these experts been wrong every step of the way

Sorry for 2nd post. Should have added that the “no new deaths” thing has happened at least twice a week since we began re-opening. And when there are deaths, it’s 1. Maybe 2 or 3 at most. Recoveries and negative test results are what’s spiking (at least here).
“When did OK open up?”
Gov. Stitt allowed elective surgeries to resume on April 24. Phase 1 of re-opening began May 1, and Phase 2 went into effect on the 15th. If things stay on track, Phase 3 is supposed to begin June 1. That will be the final one fo rus.
The spikes are not scary unless there is a similar spike in hospitalizations and deaths CAUSED by the virus, not a co-morbidity.
The death of every person who got the symptoms of Covid-19 and whose disease was confirmed with laboratory testing has been attributed to Covid-19. They are not counted as Covid-19 deaths until the lab results are complete.

No study has shown that a majority of people catching Covid remain symptom free. The more serious a disease is, the less likely it is that someone can catch it and remain completely symptom free.
BTW, a lot of antibody studies are showing that people have had colds. The antibodies don't know the difference between coronaviruses, many of which cause the common cold.
Thanks.
I’m all for opening up. My comment below is not meant to be an argument against opening up.
It’s not enough time to see an increase if there were to be one.
Again, I am for opening up everywhere everything.
We’ll see.
Covid-19 has an incubation period of 2-14 days, so any rise in cases will not be evident right away.
If people are taking the social distancing guidelines seriously and practicing them diligently, then there should be no issue with cautious reopening. A lot of the closings did not make sense. For example, my son told me that people couldn’t boat on a lake near his home. How many boats sail around less than 6 feet away from each other?
Public health measures are really the key to containing Covid. Contact tracing, testing, quarantine. These are tried and true methods.
We have large local groups on faceback and the lefties won’t even respond to this story and those like it...they truly are despicable and don’t care about anything but destroying us, Trump and this country. Not a single lefty responded out of numerous responses and 2000 people in these groups. It’s great news and they can’t even respond...They’re pissed people aren’t dying in droves. I never thought people could be so evil in this country.
What Commies want is Communism and they are using this virus to try and get that..they are absolutely GLEEFUL about this virus, because this is their one chance to destroy America as we know it
It’s all good. :-)
Help me to understand please...Did you say that every Covid 19 death is substantiated by a positive lab test before it is counted.
Thank you for your help.
