The whole “beaches are crowded” narrative is BS
The strong UV sunlight of open, sunny beaches kills viruses. Negative air-ions found in places like ocean beaches kill viruses. Salt water kills viruses. Wind disperses viruses.
Keep normal, common sense “personal space” among people, and the chance of getting Covid-19 is zero.
They should do contact tracing and see how many people died after being at the beach.

No one was ever able to explain to my satisfaction why beaches, golf courses, hiking trails and the like were ever closed, for the reasons you list.
What was interesting, I thought, about this piece is that Naples, a red county, opened its beaches, probably using the same reasoning. Miami, a blue area, has kept their beaches closed. So what happens? The blue voters decide to vote with their feet and go to Naples. The people in Naples, who had made choices that resulted in a much lower spread of the CCP virus, understandably looked askance at the hoards driving in from distant, Clamped-down counties.
