We didn’t lock down almost the entire country in 1968/69, 1957, or 1949-1952, or even during 1918. But in a terrifying few days in March 2020, it happened to all of us, causing an avalanche of social, cultural, and economic destruction that will ring through the ages.
There was nothing normal about it all. We’ll be trying to figure out what happened to us for decades hence.
How did a temporary plan to preserve hospital capacity turn into two-to-three months of near-universal house arrest that ended up causing worker furloughs at 256 hospitals, a stoppage of international travel, a 40% job loss among people earning less than $40K per year, devastation of every economic sector, mass confusion and demoralization, a complete ignoring of all fundamental rights and liberties, not to mention the mass confiscation of private property with forced closures of millions of businesses?
Whatever the answer, it’s got to be a bizarre tale ... this mess was invented 14 years ago, and not by epidemiologists but by computer-simulation modelers. It was adopted not by experienced doctors – they warned ferociously against it – but by politicians.

I have acquaintances sitting in million dollar waterfront homes, well stocked with every luxury, enormous monthly incomes from pensions, investments, savings...bitching about those Lockdown protesting right wing “selfish” hairdressers, business owners, waitresses, bartenders, printers, restauranteurs etc...who haven’t yet seen a dime of unemployment in 2 months due to our lousy state computer system

There is a group who have humiliated themselves more than the experts and that is the Freepers who not only listened to the experts but insisted that the rest us listen as well and then sign onto the expert agenda. Those who would not became the Flubros.
They are now engaged in all sorts of post defacto justifications as to why the did this.
I have must have chummed the waters a 100 times now by naming Freepers who signed onto the ProgDem shutdown agenda as “The Freepers who get monthly checks from the government”. I have yet to have a single denial that that was a true statement.
I had one person tell me I didn’t know how hard it was for older folk. Another who said Those who didn’t overly lockdowns were making it hard on old people. That’s it.
I will say it again. Freepers who draw monthly checks from the government led this tyrannical shutdown. They are as much to blame as any Dem.
I had an idiot Fearper tell me I “had not right to breathe the virus into him”. Try to get your head around that statement.
There is a militant Fearper bunch that believe everyone else is responsible for their safety. They believe that somehow they should be allowed to conduct their lives with zero risk of exposure which is possible if we will all just submit.
Think about this. The virus is so mild most people never know they were infected. Yet these Freeper clowns think the spread can be stopped.
Both studies found that masks captured a wide range of proteins that are actually smaller than coronavirus particles, meaning, says Dr. Dweik, it’s reasonable to assume the masks are also capturing those larger coronavirus particles.
