Tomatoes in 1, green beans for 2 and some spuds in 3, and looking for a 2nd USA made up right garage freezer. Most any thing prepped right can be, dried, froze, or eaten as it ripens. SEE if you can find a beef or hog farmer will to sell and go halve or fourths, better that totally letting government and CHINA destroy it. Collect feed seed to crack for feeding animals. Sweet corn is different. Pick produce for what you can earn and some produce to put up. Learn to can while we have the net or get the BLUE BOOK for canning.
Even during the Depression, people knew how to dress decently when out in public.
These days, people look like they are wearing the cast offs from Salvation Army donations.
Most of those people in that picture don’t look like they are hurting for food.
You’re right - if communism came here we’d see starvation in our country - either as a tactic or a byproduct of the stupidest economic system in the history of man.

I know of people who died from heat stroke, not so much from starvation.
(You can’t actually eat that corn.)
I have two friends that still can. I would guess they have been doing it for better than 50 years (ex farm girls). In these times a good skill to have.
Kinda odd they can still do the skills they were taught (sewing etc) on the farm. Comfortably well off, they give honor to the past. I am friends with the one that has a husband (in fact my best buddy) and he did some work in his big shop for me today. Great folks to know.
