Residents in nursing homes and long-term care facilities are dying at alarming rates due to mismanagement and dangerous policies in a number of states. Harmful state policies such as sending COVID-19 positive patients to these facilities and excessively reducing liability dramatically aggravate COVID-19 cases in nursing homes, undoubtedly bringing more death and illness to America’s seniors, and must be stopped immediately.
In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration was responsible for a policy that mandated nursing homes to admit, or readmit, nursing home residents still contagious with COVID-19 after hospital stays, thereby spawning outbreaks at facilities previously free of the virus. This dangerous policy, which was reversed on May 10, contributed to many of the approximately 5,400 nursing home deaths through May 11 in New York, amounting to more than 5% of the 100,000 nursing home residents in the state, and has been an unmitigated disaster. Such foolish and incomprehensible policies increase COVID-19 fatalities and must not be permitted.
Cuomo recently signed a law drafted by a pro-Democrat health care lobbying group that offers New York nursing homes legal immunity, something that would likely foster further carelessness at the state’s nursing homes. Any legislation that directly or indirectly promotes carelessness in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis is a recipe for disaster.

We knew the problem from Washington State. Not only did Cuomo ignore that but he made it even worse by directing sick people back to their retirement homes to die.....and they did. Where are the stats on that?
So: Those least at risk discovered to be infected have to quarantine but those most at risk have to be shoved into facilities with other most at risk. That about it?
Democratic Governors Cuomo in New York and Murphy in NJ sent COVID-19 patients to nursing homes instead of the fully staffed, well trained Trump provided USS Comfort. The poorly trained, ill protected staff and patients at these nursing homes became infected and many died. Cuomo and Murphy have also made it all but impossible for primary care physicians to prescribe hydroxychloroquine early in the disease when it does the most good. Again Trump had come to be identified with its use. These crass, vile politicians have blood on their hands and must be held accountable.

Both Cuomo and the top health official from Pennsylvania are absolute self-centered idiots who deserve to be tortured to death. But, they are definitely not alone when it comes to negating the needs of the elderly. That begins in the nursing home itself. My daughter has worked as a nurse and administrator in them for a few years now, and what you basically have is a handful of employees who really do care about the residents well-being, and everyone else - including the owners - could give a sh!t less and are only looking for a paycheck. To prove this, all you have to do is investigate how the owners themselves drug their feet when it came to getting the employees the PPE they needed, and the residents themselves the help they needed.
No, first it means those that are responsible need to be brought to justice for the murder. Then we can move forward so it never happens again. PA health commissioner pulled her mother out of the nursing home before she placed the infected in, if this doesnt tell you what does? This is premeditated murder
