The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts who have traditionally placed American flags on the graves of veterans at veterans cemeteries on Memorial Day have been barred from doing so because of the coronavirus crisis.
The Scouts cannot perform their acts of honor because the Department of Veterans Affairs has banned public events at the sites, Fox News reports, adding, On Long Island, N.Y., where more than 500,000 veterans are buried at two national military cemeteries, there are demands for the VA to reconsider and rescind the ban.
Suffolk County executive Steve Bellone told Fox News, If we cant figure out a way to make sure we are placing flags at their graves to honor them, then something is seriously wrong
What were asking the VA to do is, rather than have a blanket policy across the country, allow the national cemeteries at the local level, to make this determination in conjunction with the local health department. We will take the responsibility to say that this flag placement plan meets the state and national guidelines but give us that opportunity to do it, allow us to honor our fallen heroes. He continued, We just commemorated VE Day, this is the generation that lived through the adversity of the great depression, they won World War Two. What is it going to say about our generation if we cant figure out a way to honor the greatest generation by placing flags at their graves on Memorial Day?

I can just see the footage on the 6 o’clock news of the Boy and Girl scouts being arrested. Talk about optics!
Scumbags.
Never let a crises go to waste... sheesh, if this ain’t transparency of an oppositional and collusive obstructionist government I don’t know what is...
There is absolutely no reason for this as social distancing can be observed. Indeed it’s perhaps the best teachable moment ever for Boy and Girl Scout troops to proceed with honoring our veterans and the freedoms they fought and died for against those who would bar the scouts’ freedom to do so.
Everything, no matter how sacred, must bow before this overhyped disease.
This pandemic is a blessing in disguise for these rat bastards
When I was a young scout, I distinctly remember how a number of parents were sick of fund raising by sending us little ones to sell stuff and the troop didn't get to keep enough of the profits, sort of an oppression from the Valley Forge Counsel and the people who made the things we sold. So it was decided to go out with coffee cans in hand on a Saturday morning and simply ask for donations. (We had learned our salemanship lesson already.) The township police objected to our efforts by mid-morning. After a few phone calls from a neighbor's house to township commissioners about how bad this would look we we continued fundraising. We did not get permission. The commissioners were told it would continue. The commissions reluctantly told the cops to back off the little Cub Scouts.
Here is the moral of the story. A righteous people tell government what to do and government fears the people. It is not the other way around. This can be done when people in government knows what is right and wrong.
As a former Scout leader (well before the BSA kowtowed to the gay mafia), I would gather all the parents and their kids who were willing and DO IT ANYWAY.
