A Florida sheriff’s sergeant who lost his job after it was discovered he hid behind his car when a shooter at a high school in Parkland first opened fire will reportedly get his job back with back pay.

Sgt. Brian Miller, of the Broward Sheriff’s Department, was the first officer to respond to the 2018 shooting that took the lives of 17 students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

An arbitration ruling this week found the sheriff’s department “violated” Miller’s “constitutional due process rights and improperly terminated him,” the BSO Deputies Association, a union that represents deputies and sergeants said, according to the Miami Herald.

The deputy could have acted much better.

I do not approve of what he did.

But, we must follow due process or we become what we detest.

Barr and Durham are following due process, which is what is taking so much time in uncovering the Coup and prosecuting those responsible.

We must follow due process.

If due process is too burdensome, then change the rules, using due process to do so.

Wasn’t the claim he was setting up a perimeter? Was that the other officers who showed up and let the perpetrator walk away.

Maybe he’ll get to retire with disability so the checks are bigger

Law Enforcement is not required to risk their lives, as said many times in the past here on FR. That reason is one of the pillars of the Conceal Carry argument.

thanks, hawk Its good to follow up on old news, which the lamestreams consistently fail in doing.

The Sgt demonstrated cowardice under fire. This reinstatement is a slap in the face of all honorable police officers that answer the call in the face of danger. And it is a slap in the face of all decent citizens everywhere. How disgusting.

Why unionization of public employees is a travesty. You can’t fire anyone

“Law Enforcement is not required to risk their lives,’

That may be true, but it’s contrary to popular thinking based on the heroism of many cops as well as that standard motto “Protect & Serve”.

Regardless of what is required, this dude is a coward.

Many a concealed carrier face off with armed perpetrators. You’d think it would be the duty of a cop, since they are actually being paid to protect.

But, getting back to your other point, the fact this guy was a coward certainly makes a good argument for concealed carry and less gun grabbing.

Most people believe that the police carry guns to protect citizens, but police carry guns to protect themselves. The only security that we have, we will have to provide for ourselves. Anyone who does not legally own a gun is a fool.

Since when do you have a Constitutional right to be a cop?
