Those sonic booms heard this morning over the Bay Area were not from the Blue Angels practicing their Fleet Week routine months early, but rather a tribute to those risking their lives during the coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday morning shortly before 11 am, four California National Guard F-15C fighter jets flew over the San Francisco Bay Area as part of Operation America Strong. The purpose of the flyovers was to recognize frontline personnel dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes essential personnel, healthcare workers and first responders.
"A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into the planning to make sure that we not only do the planning and execution right, but that we fly over as many of those first responders and medical workers that we can so that we can show our support in an effort to get through this time, get through this pandemic," noted the California National Guard's Facebook page.
Part of the California National Guard 144th Fighter Wing based out of Fresno, the fliers were among a select few military pilots participating nationwide in Operation America Strong. The Bay Area flyover was only one of many around the United States.

Saw these jets about 10:50 a.m. headed due south to SJO and wondered what in the world was going on.
A propaganda show worthy of the USSR. Fighter jets, saluting the heroic hero medical workers who have time to make dance videos, and all in support of a dishonest government propaganda campaign.
I hear the wheat harvest this year will be the largest ever and we will achieve the goals of the 5 year plan! Remember comrade, if your neighbor says anything that conflicts with what you see on the news, contact your local police!
And to think, a few years ago at the London Olympics we shook our heads and laughed at the dancing doctor NHS act. Now WE have dancing doctors.
Always love seeing fighter jets play. But this is propaganda like all those TV commercials... “in these uncertain times...”....”we are all in this together”.
Some are saying “that’s their job, they chose it. Why are they heroes?”
Yeah they did take the jobs but most must have had some innate desire to help people in order to take those jobs.
And the day my fat heart start jumping and I get that pain in my left arm i’m not gonna want an accountant or lawyer or software programmer to get to my house ASAP :)
Those first responder jobs can be quite stressful i would imagine
I’m with you, but all day long I have been trying to square massive layoffs of medical workers and empty hospitals, and choreographed medical dances...with a “pandemic” requiring closing the whole economy.
And I think what might have made sense 6 weeks ago, no longer does.
And dude, give it a rest on the fat heart comments. Now I’m thinking of what all I ate today. I’m gonna have bad dreams.
lol
Bro you’re not me :)
You’re probably a beast that’s gonna live till 105.
I typed all my personal health data into a website and it said my age of death will be 37
I turned 52 yesterday :)
But for you, I’ll stop
And yeah the economy was destroyed for no good reason.
The only thing is if it was a pure American conspiracy, so many other countries would be doing the same thing?
I dunno what to think anymore.
I’d like to know the average age of ALL who died from this.
I know in the US it’s high
Next time, F-16s may have live ordinance when flying over the outlaw San Francisco...
But we can’t go outside to see them.
They should have taken out City Hall. Would have done humanity a great service.
Damned. No JDAMS!
Hopefully they were spraying Agent Orange
SF doesn’t deserve a salute unless it’s a one finger kind.
Heard that there’s another flyover in Colorado today.
Wish we could get something for Upstate NY...
Hey, c’mon, “We’re all in this together, aren’t we?” /S
I think the flyover was actually to blow away some of the stink...
They should have sprayed the city with disinfectant.
My grandson works on the F-15. He reports they all had to be put down after the flight.
