Hawaii could face civil unrest, rioting if coronavirus reopening doesn't happen quicker, top official says

Hawaii’s top emergency response official said Monday he fears there will be civil unrest and rioting if the state doesn’t speed up its process of reopening the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“If we let the economy go the way it’s going, there will be, I feel, significant unrest that could lead to civil disobedience. In worst case, civil disturbance and rioting,” Maj. Gen. Kenneth Hara, the state director of emergency management, told lawmakers Monday.

Hara, who heads the state's coronavirus response team, argued before the state House Select Committee on COVID-19 in Honolulu Monday that, despite pushback from the department of health, Hawaii must accept the risk of an increase in new infections because the longer they wait, the harder it will be for the economy to recover, KHON2 reported.

”Hawaii is an island thousands of miles from any continent. Not much in the way of natural resources. It absolutely depends on tourism which is exactly the industry that is being hit hardest. Easter Island use to have forests but the natives cut every tree down and society there pretty much collapsed.”

When Captain Cook first discovered the Hawaiian islands there was a lot less forest than there is today. Life was hard for many islanders and Hawaii was going down the same path is Easter island with overpopulation and lack of resources

Why would you OCR a document when you just want a copy of the image? You simply scan it as an image. Photograph it. Photocopy it. You don’t need OCR unless you want to capture and change the type on the document and even that wouldn’t work well afaik. You’d still need the background image to remain static as you change the text in the various fields (date, time, name, place etc).

can’t they just ask the gods for a reprieve from the virus, toss a virgin into a volcano, and call it a day?

The failure to adjudicate both this counterfeit “birth certificate” and what constitutes an Article II, section one, clause 5 natural born citizen, coupled with the Deep State coup attempt and the Russia hoax are the greatest scandals in US, if not world political history.

I did an Excel spreadsheet that computes deaths per million state residents as of 5/6/20, using John Hopkins numbers. Hawaii has the fewest in the country ; even beating Wyoming. However, it is a state dedicated to the Democrat ideologies. It voted for Hillary, its governor is Democrat ,and all its senator and representatives are Democrat.

Leftists are playing a dangerous game. How far will they push people for their disgusting thirst for power? How far will people allow themselves to be pushed?

From the beginning we seem not to have done any sort of cost-benefit analysis of having lockdowns in the first place

Dems are demanding to know what will happen if we open to soon. The more important question is what will happen if we open to late.

“’ I feel, significant unrest that could lead to civil disobedience. In worst case, civil disturbance and rioting..So what’s the point?

I’ll translate it for you. The general is worried that his troops might join with the citizens against the state government. He’s warning the bureaucrats and politicians that they may end up hanging from an Esso station like Mussolini.

Hawaii’s economy depends deeply on tourism.
They have to be hurting nearly as much as Las Vegas.
Keep it locked down and see how long until the good folks there take to the streets./

It would be interesting to see how they retain their Democrat ideologies and deal with the pending economic collapse.

I saw an example of the contortions people go through in summer of 2016 when a black army serviceman killed five Dallas policemen and Black Lives Matter was at the center of the news. We went to my son’s family church in Bend Oregon (which he immediately left) and listened to the pastor forgo his usual sermon to explain how this man did not have any choice in what he did, because we in this congregation were so prejudiced. Driving home my son explained how he failed to logically connect his thoughts. I could explain how his historical examples were simply untrue.

The congregation gave him a standing ovation as they received addictive compassion as the drug of choice. They fabricated a disgust for themselves and their country and cheerfully entered a prison of their own creation.

Went Snowmobiling in February at Diamond Lake and stopped for two days on the way in and two on the way out in Bend.
Lovely place,,stayed in a motel on the river going through town.
Had breakfast at McMinimuns in the old Catholic school there. Great biscuit and gravy and one of the nicest heaters I’ve ever seen.
Folks were wonderful.

I would agree. There are some great places and people in Bend. Of course family including three grandkids are the main attraction. They have a home in a hilly subdivision. Just happens their place is at top of a hill with an unrestricted view of the Three Sisters and mountains to the north.
