Companies are dropping big hints about the 'new normal' once coronavirus lockdowns end

Officials are delineating the parameters of relaxing stay-at-home orders that have throttled the global economy, yet a few companies are already giving the public a glimpse of life once stringent coronavirus restrictions begin winding down.

Currently, states and cities are crafting a pell-mell retreat away from lockdowns designed to contain the COVID-19 crisis but that have decimated growth and the jobs market. Yet, it's widely acknowledged that social distancing protocols that enforce small crowds — and require the use of face masks in public — will remain in effect.

Already, a range of big and small businesses around the country are actively implementing the post-lockdown “new normal.” It’s become a catchphrase that has defined public discourse since COVID-19 upended societal norms, and brought the global economy to its knees.

I’ll give it 6 months tops, then people will forget all about the Chinese flu once the bans are lifted. Do you really think baseball stadiums and arenas will be 1/3 empty? Restaurants can’t survive on 1/2 empty seating. The profit margins are too small. Disney and Vegas will go bankrupt. The government is addicted to taxes. Having a country with half the population unemployed means they will be coming for the employed’s money.

There will be two types of people in this dystopian scenario. The welfare and the heavily taxed. And eventually the economy will just move underground like it did in Greece. Maybe I’m wrong but I just don’t see any of that happening. I also don’t know anyone in my age group or younger worried about the Chinese flu. People just want their lives back.

Remember after 911 the mantra across our country, “We will never forget.”?

That refrain died quickly. The same will hold true with this Covid thingy.

My prediction: Social interaction will return to pre-Covid normal by Christmas.

The insurance companies won't allow it without legal immunity.

Some businesses are screwed because people won’t have the spending money for some of those hobbies/interests. I’m waiting for the grocery prices to fall; I’ve never spent so much in supermarkets (and our panic buying/long lines are gone).

I believe that is what will keep some businesses closed for a long time, or operating with live skeleton crews while keeping most workers doing the remote thing.

In Pennsylvania, Governor Wolf did not ‘get that memo’.

‘How long before Trump and a few others say
enough of this bullshit’

Trump can say anything he wants; regarding what he can do, quite limited...

They’ve been predicting the dominance of the “work-at-home” model for a long time. My question: is your office totally “paperless”? Because if it isn’t, or there is a need to refer to paper archival records, then there’s no real possibility of “remote work”. Then there’s the problem of worker productivity and the need to maintain it without seeming intrusive.

Working at home is fine for certain employees - those that work with little or no supervision. I don’t find most workers fit this description.

I can’t stand working remotely; most homes simply aren’t designed for it. I have no interest in converting my living space into unpaid office space for my employer.

From cashless transactions, to smaller office footprints with fewer on-site workers

Cashless, with Gate's ID2020 controlling you via surveillance and block chain transactions.

We are in the Last Days. People need to release their grip on this world, and get right with the Lord.

‘I also don’t know anyone in my age group or younger worried about the Chinese flu’

you are sadly mistaken if you think young adults, especially females, are not afraid of this virus...

didn’t the Lord create this contagion and loose it among us in the first place...?

Our manufacturing is essential. We were shut down by the Pennsylvania State Police until our lawyers got the waiver.

After 2 weeks of furlough, we have resumed production....but output is 50% of what is was due to the “requirements”.

I can tell you that if demand rises, we will ignore the “requirements” and ramp up production.

The only obstacle are liberal employees who will accuse the company of putting profits ahead of safety.

You can see such stories around the nation already. Companies re-opening and the liberal workers complaining.

I know some of you will say, just fire the liberals. Well, you cannot do that and expect no lawsuit. That is exactly what the socialists want.

The UAW did this to GM, Ford and Fiat-Chrysler, who wanted to resume production next week, but the UAW leadership (in the pocket of Democrats) refused.

No female I know. I have four adult children in their twenties. 3 males, one female. None of them are worried at all. I’m just stating what I know. Even prisoners are trying to get infected in order to obtain early release. I live in the city of Boston. People are outside all day walking around with no place to go. Just about all the deaths are in nursing homes, tragic but not cause for alarm for the young. I have two sisters-in-law that are nurses at major hospitals. They are not worried. In fact they are being sent home because of over staffing regularly. I’m suppose to be in a “hot zone” and I just don’t see it.

People who are laid off or on furlough want to come back to work. Even liberals. The UAW just wants more money for their union members. People want their lives back.

WuFlu-related blanket civil liability for everything everywhere.

But for serious offenses, criminal should still be available. Ex: a PPE manufacturer that knowingly sells a defective product.

Civil liability protection that is...

No civil, leave criminal available.

Tell that to Charlie (Parker) who wants to keep us locked up until? Loved his phase in proposal which said absolutely nothing and needed 17 people to come up with it.
