Fauci delivered the somber warning Tuesday to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions during a hearing about the road to reopening businesses across the nation. U.S. officials have pointed to the development of a vaccine as a key turning point in the Covid-19 pandemic, even though it will take a at least 12 to 18 months.
As experimental vaccines are created, they will also need to be mass produced to be administered to the more than 7.6 billion people around the world. In the meantime, there are not yet proven treatments for virus.
Fauci’s comments highlight another complexity in the path to a vaccine.
“You can have everything you think that’s in place and you don’t induce the kind of immune response that turns out to be protective and durably protective,” Fauci said of a vaccine. “So one of the big unknowns is, will it be effective?"

It is exactly correct.
I think the probability of a successful SARS CoV 2 vaccine is less then 20%. People are talking about it as if it’s just a matter of time - no one is quite sure how much time - but the fact is, no successful CoV vaccine has ever been developed, and success with this one is unlikley.
Well, I have read that they actually had a vaccine, but they didn’t test it because SARS-CoV disappeared.
Same thing that happened in South Dakota with ZERO lockdowns? Only 9 deaths as at last week?
Or Sweden? Faf lower deaths than the UK Spain Italy Belgium and France when Sweden had no lockdowns?
Fauci should be hanging for the grief, pain, suicide and other deaths and suffering he was wrought.

You are flat-out out wrong. The flu kills tens of thousands per year just in America and hundreds of thousands globally every year.

By believing that ‘the flu only kills hundreds to maybe thousands a year’ you are buying into the propaganda that this lockdown is justified because roughly 30K have died due to Covid-19.

This is becoming really stupid. Waiting for 12-18 months doesn’t make any sense. Plan B is necessary: Tell people to normalize their level of vitamin D. I have read that 42% of Americans are vitamin D insufficient or deficient. There are studies that show that most Covid-19 critical cases are vitamin D insufficient or deficient. The slogan should be “Take vitamin D and avoid the ICU.”

Bill has also expressed concern that he wants a clause freeing him from lawsuits over his global vaccine. By his own estimate there could be 700,000 cases with bad effects. But everyone would need to take it.
What was the point of convening this hearing today? To give Fauci a platform? They knew what he would say if given the floor. Could they not have done something positive for the people, like confirming some judges?
And what is to stop our ‘benevolent’ dictators from one day deciding to add in a sterilization drug in their mandatory vaccines in order to save the earth from the plague of human population?
In America, staring in the beginning of the 20th century eugenicists were sterilizing Deplorables.
In 1927 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 8-1 in Buck v. Bell that laws mandating the sterilization of the mentally handicapped did not violate the Constitution. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes made an explicitly eugenic argument in writing for the majority:
“It is better for all the world, if instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crime, or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind.”
Please note that the black robed tyrants of the Supreme Court have never expressly overturned Buck v. Bell.
