When Richard Demsick learned of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, he immediately thought about the privilege he had as a white man.
Arbery, a 25-year-old black man, was shot dead while jogging in February after being chased by two men — Gregory and Travis McMichael — who said he looked like a break-in suspect.
In a video that trended after Arbery's death, the McMichaels could be seen pursuing Arbery in their truck while Arbery ran. Travis McMichael left the truck holding a gun and, after a brief struggle, Arbery was dead. The McMichaels later told the police they believed Arbery resembled a man behind a string of residential break-ins. They were charged with murder last week.
Demsick, 34, a former pastor in Vero Beach, Florida, said he felt that it didn't matter what he wore or how "suspicious" he looked — his whiteness alone was enough to protect him from meeting the same fate as Arbery.

EXACTLY. Thank you. I love Ben Shapiro, but he has been harping on this incident for a couple of days. He completely misses the point that, no matter what, nobody in their right mind attacks someone holding a shotgun on them, especially if the person with the shotgun has a backup accomplice.
Shapiro paints this as it being as though he was completely fenced in. I haven't seen the video (tagline explains that), but if you're out on the street, it's nearly impossible to be completely fenced in with no place to run away. While the guys who held the guns may ultimately be responsible for Mr. Arbery's death, he was largely culpable as well. What he did was fatally stupid. Just like what Michael Brown did, or Trayvon Martin.

I am fed up with this Arbery crap. Regardless the guilt or innocence of McMichael, if Arbery had not been poking around inside the house under construction in a neighborhood foreign to him, he would not be dead. Some posters on here seem to think it OK to prowl around construction sites after hours or on weekends but they are trespassing. The streets are free but stay on them.

How about if he ran through the street with a babe in a bikini. Could he logically claim that the bikini babe saved him from getting shot? Why not. “I survived not getting shot because of bikini privilege.” This is National Enquirer material.
And what in the world did this bozo pastor? A peck of kosher pickles?
