Even if the aging influence of the Commission on Presidential Debates somehow holds up, voting in many states will be underway before President Trump faces off against former vice president Joe Biden
But Trump would be crazy to accept the commissions schedule or its role in setting formats and moderators.

It would be odd for Trump to agree to debate Biden under the authority of a commission deeply biased toward Beltway group think, no matter how confident he is that the former vice president lacks the energy to go two hours against him. But why walk into three ambushes?
(SNIP)
The good news is that debates may not be needed at all. Trump-Biden is a simple choice, already stark in five profound dimensions.

WaPo is setting the stage for the DNC to pull Biden from the debates. The Left DOESN’T DARE put a brain dead man on the stage with a master showman, Trump.
Just making Biden show up somewhere will wipe him out for a month. Hewitt has gone round the bend for the last time.
Hugh Hewitt, Bush League Republican, finding excuses for Biden to duck being pummeled in a debate with President Trump.
“Can I call you, Joe?”
The problem is, the Democrat candidate could pick with his eyes closed and be assured of 100% bias support whereas Trump’s chances would be less than 50% .. even with his eyes open!
I like that idea, but you couldn’t let the one with Trump’s choice go last because the Democrats would just pull out.
Also, I’m really surprised this article ran in the Washington Post.
Hewitt is supposedly on our side.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knew that was not true when he supported the Bush amnesty pushes in 2005 and 2006.
Wasn’t Hewitt a debate moderator in 2016?
Isn't this what they always were. I don't remember Hewitt as being different at any point in his pundit career. He's always been sort of RINOish, GOP establishment guy. He made it onto NBC as an occassional guest on Meet The Press. That's the brass ring for these types. Someone like Mark Levin - hell will freeze over before he's invited onto Meet The Press.
So, in the conservative pundit career path you choose early which branch you are one, and Hewitt was always on the "stay respectable, make it to Meet the Press" path
And as far as Beck goes:
Glenn Beck also became a lunatic around that time.
Again, Beck was always pretty much a lunatic. Watching his TV show with the blackboards was like watching a psychotic in mid-breakdown. Finally Fox just said: this is too weird, and pulled the plug. One day he would be a hard-libertarian, the next day he'd be all the over on the Left with some weirdo progressive. Beck admitted he never started reading until he was doing that show. And it showed, he didn't have a political philosophy.. he was just bouncing from one viewpoint to another as he was exposed to them.
Slow Joe would not last 15 minutes without Soros or one of his ilk putting his hand up his back and making the dummy talk. Picture Slow Joe sitting on Podesta’s lap and Podesta making Slow Joe’s lips move and putting out the Progressive drivel.
1: a return to appeasement not just of the Peoples Republic of China but Iran as VS. Trumps "clarity and resolve" toward both.
2: continued defense buildup, VS: starvation of the Pentagon
3: economic recovery marked by reliance on markets and deregulation VS the embrace of massive federal government control of every decision
4: Judges and justices of the sort Trump has nominated VS. leftists
5: prosecution of those who twisted the law after the people spoke in November 2016 in an attempt to undo their vote.
Hewitt, in his last point, tacitly agrees that a failure of Trump to win re-election means the Deep State Coup plotters are never prosecuted. Which, in turn means that they mostly got away with it. They were not able to stop him in 2016, or remove him with the coup, but all the false narrative was never refuted and so will cost him 2020. The only meaningful refutation (which is almost too late now that we are in mid-election year, it will be considered a "dirty trick" at this point) is lots and lots of indictments.
The public could use a Presidential Debate. It’s been about 30 years since we’ve had one. We have two parties who aren’t that dissimilar. Both are eager to grow the state, run every aspect of your life, limit freedom, and spend you into oblivion. There’s certainly a debate to be had.
I want to see Trump hold Biden’s foolishness, idiocy and corruption up to the light of day. Not having debates is an obvious attempt to help Biden.
Protecting Slo-Jo......
After outsider Trump blows an entire short bus full of career profession politicians off the stage in 2016, now suddenly debates are not necessary.
Hugh Blewit
Sorry Mr. Hewitt, you have no credibility, so keep your pie hole shut.
