Oregon’s above average deaths tied to COVID-19 and unknown
Shown are the number of deaths this year compared to the averages for the same weeks in 2017-2019; some public health officials believe the real COVID-19 deaths could be higher.

I am not going to format this, but the 5 week ranges correspond to the number below.

Lost in the first paragraph of the article is that each of those weeks had a rough average of 775 deaths and a rough average of 15 covid deaths per week. It would be interesting to know how the other 760 per week died. I am guessing a large portion died from old age. I suspect for many US states, the finding will be the same.

In late March on the fire department that I retired from 11 people tested positive. Two weeks later those 11 all tested negative. Only 1 developed any symptoms, but they were from his seasonal allergies... he still has them. None of these guys would have been tested at all if they were not firefighters.

The vast majority of active people under 50 who are fit and have no health problems that make them vulnerable do not even realize that they even have an active case. This virus has been far more pervasive than was presumed.
