Republicans in the House and Senate introduced legislation this week to have the street in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., renamed Li Wenliang Plaza to honor the Wuhan-based doctor-turned-whistleblower who had early on sounded the alarm on coronavirus.
The Chinese Government attempted to silence Dr. Li Wenliang who, at great personal risk, warned about the danger of Coronavirus, Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney said in a statement Thursday.
Li was among eight doctors who were reprimanded by the Chinese government for warning people against the threat of the coronavirus. Li was later exonerated by Chinese officials.

GOP suddenly found real nerve?
Would have been nice, 30 years ago, but at very least, it is the GOP.
Finally.
Maybe.
I love the idea.
Dr. Li Wen Liang deserves the (once uncorrupted) Nobel Prizes for both Peace AND Medicine. A true martyr to science and humanism. RIP.
LOVE IT.
Dollars to doughnuts, Pelosi blocks this.
Great proposal. And let the Ice Cream Queen try to block it. They think the next election is going to be about Trump when its actually going to be as much about China, and on that subject Trump already holds a very strong hand.
The Fetus you Aborted who could have made a decent presidential candidate Circle
I thought they murdered him.
Why even refer to the “fetus”.
How about, the child you aborted?
Great idea!!!
Great idea. Nothing like a constant reminder to an unwelcome neighbor.
I’m reminded of when the proposed Ground Zero mosque was being debated and Greg Gutfeld promised to open a gay bar next door called “Suspicious Packages”.
Variation on the theme with a larger perspective... Taiwan Road.
(With respect to Dr. Li Wenliang.)
Ya think? If not her then the D.C. government. The District has a level of self governance and I would think naming streets would fall under that.
Really. You don't think a wrecked economy, 20% unemployment, $6 trillion deficit for 2020, and Covid-19 won't play a bigger part in the election than China will?
The federal government has the power to rename a street in DC.
The question is does it have the nads...?
Not so sure of that. If the District government can legalize gay marriage (before the Supreme Court ruling, ban conversion therapy, and legalize assisted suicide without Congressional approval then I would think they would also control something as mundane as naming streets. This bill is for political consumption only.
I am sure. This same thing came up in 2017 vis-a-vis the Russian embassy.
Fedzilla can do it.
The only question is does it have the guts.
Wow. 60,000 dead, economy in free fall. That will really show ‘em who is boss. /sarcasm
Wars can be fought in many ways, on many fronts, with many weapons.
