The first recorded instance of coronavirus community spread in California was tracked to a nail salon, Gov. Gavin Newson said Thursday.
The governor made the revelation as he explained why Golden State manicurists aren’t slated to reopen Friday, when other businesses, including clothiers, sporting-goods stores and florists will resume limited operations.
“This whole thing started in the state of California — the first community spread — in a nail salon,” Newsom said during his daily briefing. “I’m very worried about that.”

Well, then let them in one customer at a time - the queue of customers can be waiting outside in their cars instead of in a common waiting area. Awkward, but still fully functional. No reason to keep them closed.

I think I was the first case. I had a bad cold sometime between November and January. But Newsom has it all figured it out. It was this one nail salon. Got to keep the lockdown going. Got to keep the small business owners down.

Aren’t most of the nail salons Vietnamese? I forget who it was - some movie star in California was complimented by a Vietnamese refugee on her nails. Who then showed her friends. So this movie star got them trained and set up and the Vietnamese really went for it creating small shops and jobs, etc.

In my experience, it’s Vietnamese women in those salons.
I have first “hand” knowledge of dozens of such salons, but not due to visiting them.
Such an interesting monster needs an interesting hairdo.
