White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany flipped the script on a reporter during a press briefing on Wednesday about past comments she made about the threat posed by the Wuhan coronavirus.
A reporter asked McEnany about how she told the Fox Business Network on February 25, "This president will always put America first. He will always protect American citizens. We will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here, we will not see terrorism, and isn't that refreshing when contrasting it with the awful presidency of Barack Obama?"
Many media outlets seized on her words as COVID-19 became a global pandemic and after she was named to be the new White House press secretary. McEnany went on to tweet how her words were being taken out of context.
(2/4): I was asked about travel restrictions & stated the intent of those restrictions: We will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here
DR. FAUCI articulated this intent: What we're doing now with the other travel restrictions - so you block infections from coming in Kayleigh McEnany (@kayleighmcenany) April 4, 2020

"I guess I would turn the question back on the media and ask similar questions," McEnany said:
"Does Vox want to take back that they proclaimed that the coronavirus would not be a deadly pandemic? Does The Washington Post want to take back that they told Americans to get a grippe, the flu is bigger than the coronavirus? Does The Washington Post likewise want to take back that our brains are causing us to exaggerate the threat of the coronavirus? Does The New York Times want to take back that fear of the virus may be spreading faster than the virus itself? Does the N.P.R. want to take back that the flu was a much threat bigger than that of the coronavirus? And finally, once again, The Washington Post, would they like to take back that the government should not respond aggressively to the coronavirus?"
"I will leave you with those questions and maybe we'll have answers in a few days," McEnany said as she ended the press conference.
I've heard it told to NOT underestimate Kayleigh.
Made my day.
She sounded awfully FReeperish to me. I wonder if she’s the Trump lurker that I suspect roams these halls.
Shes awesome and loves to give it back.
Hawt!
These reporters are such two-faced scum.
Yeah, she was good.
She went Chuckette Norris on them.
Knife? I think she brought a gun.
It was an awesome ending.

Here’s the transcript:
Jeff Mason: (25:26)
Kayleigh, in a previous life, before you were Press Secretary, you worked for the campaign. And you made a comment, I believe on Fox, in which you said President Trump will not allow the Coronavirus to come to this country. Given what has happened since then, obviously, would you like to take that back?
Kayleigh McEnany: (25:44)
Well, first let me note. I was asked a question on Fox Business about the Presidents travel restrictions. I noted what was the intent behind those travel restrictions, which is, we will not see the Coronavirus come here. We will not see terrorism come here, referring to an earlier set of travel restrictions. I guess I would turn the question back on the media and ask similar questions.
Kayleigh McEnany: (26:04)
Does Vox want to take back that they proclaim that the coronavirus would not be a deadly pandemic? Does the Washington Post want to take back that they told Americans to, get a grip, the flu is bigger than the coronavirus? Does the Washington Post, likewise, want to take back that, Our brains are causing us to exaggerate the threat of the Corona virus? Does the New York Times want to take back that, Fear of the virus may be spreading faster than the virus itself? Does NPR want to take back that the flu was a much bigger threat than the Corona virus? And finally, once again, the Washington Post. Would they like to take back that the government should not respond aggressively to the virus? Ill leave you with those questions and maybe youll have some answers in a few days?
Kayleigh McEnany: (26:47)
[crosstalk 00:26:47] Thank you, very much.
She slapped them upside the head with their OWN WORDS, stuck the knife in, twisted it, dropped the mic, and exited stage right; all the while with a smile on her face!
I was so stunned, I almost fell over!
More like a club... a big one.
[She sounded awfully FReeperish to me. I wonder if shes the Trump lurker that I suspect roams these halls.]
that was awesome...
A woman after my own heart.
Who was the idiot reporter who asked that, and got deservedly owned? Anyone know?
This is what I’ve been looking for. She does her homework and throws it right back in their face. Facts always win out. She’s a nimble chick.
President Trump, you picked a winner.
“Knife? I think she brought a gun.”
With a very sweet smile after she delivered her punches. The President gets the best press secretaries!
