TIPTON, Pa. (WJAC) — The Blair County Farm Bureau will partner with the American Dairy Association Northeast to host a milk giveaway at DelGrosso’s Park in Tipton Saturday.

They’re giving away 4,800 gallons of milk.

One thousand of those will go to local food pantries.

The rest will be handed out in the parking lot next to the water park side of the complex.

The milk was produced by dairy farms in Blair County.

Organizers say there is an oversupply of milk because of school and restaurant closures and an increased need by the communities.

They say dairy farmers are working seven days a week to produce milk.

My GF works for a car dealership here in MA.
Every wednesday they hand out food to their furloughed employees.
2 weeks ago it was a big ass pan of lasagna and a crap load of groceries, last week it was a big ass pan of chicken and eggplant Parmesan with ziti and a crap load of groceries.
Today it was a big ass pan off roast beef and a crap load of groceries.
This time however part of the grocery list was a 10 pound loaf of deli roast beef and a can of roasted eel..
What the heck am i gonna do with that?
at something like 13 dollars a pound for deli roast beef the thing is worth like 130 buck and i have no deli slicer...
guess i’ll stick it in the freezer till i figure out what to do with it.

higgmeister :" They say dairy farmers are working seven days a week to produce milk. "

You may go to work to earn income, but at least you get Saturdays and Sundays off.
When you become a dairy farmer, you "marry" a cow who needs milking twice a day, seven days a week.
That's a tough job, and your earnings are on tight margins.

Every day I wake up to another .....
I'm getting so tired now of all BS crap published by the rat party.

I have documented proof my family has fought since the Spanish American War. (my brother though, says he is compiling data that goes back much earlier)

JackWads at ABC try to compare the Covid19 to Trump's Vietnam.
I really hate these people. Just nasty, nasty people.

I lost my best friend because of Vietnam. God Bless you Mr. Hamilton.

Trying to reconcile an oversupply of milk because schools are closed. Seems like parents rely on schools to provide milk to their children.

Last week, the local dairy farm gave away 2000 gal. of milk at a church. The week before, we drove to the dairy and bought a gallon of heavy cream for $5.00. That turned into 5lbs of homemade butter for $5.00.

No i’m not complaining i’m just wondering what the heck i’m gonna do with 10 pounds of unsliced deli roast beef.

Everybody furloughed is making over 800 bucks a week sitting on their butts right now.
We have been donating the groceries that we have been getting to a very needy person we know and eating the lasagna, chick parm etc.
I work at a large grocery store currently (6 weeks ago thinking temporarily) so i get first dibs anyways..

When I was a little kid on the farm, that was my big brother's job.   A few years later after we moved from the farm he could climb a rope hand over hand with his legs perpendicular to the rope.   His secret, the cow milking forearms and shoulders.

You got that right. My Dad's dairy farm had about 40 cows, and I learned very early that we didn't get weekends off.

My mom grew up on a dairy farm during the depression.

Her dad would make his normal milk runs whether the people paid or not (most didn't/couldn't). I think this is just what Americans do.
