Every time my father disciplined me when I was growing up under his roof, he would tell me, “only babies and animals are not accountable for their actions.” My father’s lesson was simple: all people must be held accountable for the things they say and do. That’s the way it should be. It is a sign of growth and maturity, and personal accountability is engrained in the American tradition.
For many years dating to the end of slavery, black Americans shared this perspective as a matter of individualism and familial pride. But beginning in the 1960s, a lot of black Americans were convinced to identify as victims. They accepted the branding of victimhood from the Left, which ate away their sense of self-worth and personal accountability. We’re seeing this again today in the midst of the Wuhan virus pandemic.
Although we don’t have comprehensive data on Wuhan virus deaths by race, statistics from a number of states and municipalities show blacks are dying from coronavirus in numbers that are disproportionate to their population. For example, blacks make up about 14% of the population in Illinois and Michigan, yet account for 42% and 41% of all coronavirus deaths, respectively. The trends are similar in other states and cities that have provided mortality data by race.
That black Americans are suffering disproportionately from this pandemic isn’t up for debate. But what is debatable is why. The political Left and their media allies are quick to blame this on institutional racism in the United States. Blacks receive poor healthcare because America is racist. Blacks live in poverty because America is racist. Doctors don’t care about the health of black people because America is racist. It’s instructive to note that most of these accusations about racism are made in the present tense

Dr. Fauci stated that it is directly related to health “disparities” in minorities (read blacks). Black Americans also face a “disproportionate prevalence in incidents of the very co-morbid conditions,” that place them at higher risk, like hypertension, asthma, obesity, and diabetes, and contracting COVID-19 with these pre-existing conditions most often results in a poor outcome.
But blacks are not overweight because of racism. They don’t suffer from diabetes or hypertension because of Jim Crow. Most have these conditions because of their behavior and their personal lifestyle choices. But instead of suggesting that blacks bear at least some responsibility for their actions and the consequences of them, we are given a pass and our plight is blamed on racism. Blacks are told that they are victims, that their problems are the fault of society, not decades of poor health choices.
It is a fact that blacks have higher levels of hypertension, asthma, obesity, diabetes and heart disease than any other race of people in America. But this is not the fault of society, nor is it a disparity that society has created.
That black Americans are suffering disproportionately from this pandemic isn’t up for debate.

Recent study out of Indonesia show's getting Kung Flu while low or deficient in Vitamin D is a death sentence.
Those health disparities could also be genetic or it could be due to behaviors that they nor anyone else understands.
For example, the vitamin D deficiencies.
Who thought blacks need to tan more?

When people get used to preferential treatment, equal treatment seems like discrimination.
I grew up in Newark, N.J and moved to East Orange N.J. in Jan.. of 1955. It was a great town. About that time there were signs circulating in the south that read “For freedom of the negro go to East Orange N.J.” That ballooned the welfare program because there were not enough jobs for those moving in. By 1970 the town had totally changed and the “White Flight” was almost complete. One of the finest cities in the country become crime plagued and forever changed.
Have you thought about how diabetes and obesity are in the black population?
I would like to see someone compile statistics which compare compliance to lockdown orders between black communities and the overall population.

Comparing state deaths by race is probably not accurate.
Blacks tend to be urban dwellers in proportion to whites. So there are large portions of Michigan and NY State that have more whites than blacks.
Proximity or close living quarters would tend to spread a virus versus persons living in larger and more physically separate living units.
In other words, living conditions are a factor. And were not addressed in this article.

Genetically, blacks are much more susceptible to sickle-cell anemia. They may very well have some overlooked chemical component in their DNA that also makes them more susceptible to CV-19.
DNA aside, behavior and lifestyle are also factors. Almost all of the melanin-enhanced that I’ve encountered my entire life exhibit behaviors and lifestyles that do not favor remaining uninfected.
All people must be held accountable for the things they do.

Yes. But, you see, they drink, smoke, overeat, and disdain exercise to cope with the chronic stress and despair of American racism. It's your fault, not theirs.
Must be nice to have a built-in culturally accepted reason for every negative outcome in your life.
Actually white people bear a great deal of responsibility for the overweightness of black women. Liberal welfare payments to black mothers contingent upon the fathers being absent cause black fathers to be absent. Food stamps force the family to make do with a diet of bread rice and potatoes plus candy and soft drinks to keep the kids happy. Lots of empty calories. Then cable TV with Donahue and Springer to keep their minds occupied. Section 8 housing and the projects. And money for drugs. It is quite a limited existence compared to the economic freedom that you get from a family with a working father.
It’s a dependance that is purchased with a vote. Really seems like a good deal.
Americans are Americans. That the clowns at “American” Thinker insist on creating race tensions is reprehensible.
