A Dallas hair salon owner in a contempt hearing for re-opening her business under lockdown told the judge that “feeding my kids is not selfish.” Her comments came after the judge offered her the opportunity to avoid jail time by apologizing and admitting her actions were wrong.
“I have to disagree with you sir when you that I’m selfish [for re-opening the salon].” “because feeding my kids is not selfish.”
Judge Eric Moyé presides over the 14th Civil District Court located in Dallas County. Dallas County issued an order to Luther requiring her to close her business after she opened in defiance of the stay at home Coronavirus lockdown.
Luther told the judge, “I have hairstylists that are going hungry because they’d rather feed their kids. So, sir, if you think the law is more important than kids getting fed then please go ahead with your decision but I am not going to shut the salon.”
Prior to her statement, Judge Moyé said she must see the errors of her ways and “understand that the society cannot function where one’s own belief in a concept of liberty permits you to flaunt your disdain for the rulings of duly elected officials.”
“That you owe an apology to the elected officials who you disrespected by flagrantly ignoring, and in one case defiling, their orders you now know obviously apply to you,” Moyé lectured.
Lucia reported that the judge ordered her jailed for seven days and fined $500 for every day the salon remains open. So far, the fine stands at $3,500.
The contempt hearing occurred at about the time Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that hair salons and gyms could re-open on Friday.

In the first place I blame the cops who arrested her. They know these orders are anti-constitutional and they should have walked away. (nothing to see here). Why are these cops turning into little dictators? Arresting a mother letting her daughter swing in a park, a paddle boarder all by himself in the bay, people in their cars at church, and on and on.
I wonder if the judge has ever heard of the second amendment? Does the Judge know that government was delegated certain limited powers by the people? Is the judge familiar with amendments 9 and 10?
What about the scotus case that says laws repugnant to the constitution are nullities?
Calling Bob Barr... The DOJ needs to step in before citizens reclaim their rights by force. That would be a legal mess.

Guess this elderly Black “judge”, appointed by Ma Richards in 1992, never heard of Patrick Henry....or any of the Founders, who pledged their lives and their sacred honor to the cause of Liberty. He’s thus unfit for office.
Talk about a speedy trial! How in the world is that Hollywood star who bribed school officials to get her kids into college not in court yet and this poor woman is already doing time. God, please intervene on this salon owner’s behalf and bless her with multitudes.
Most cops couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the constitution beyond reading a suspect their Miranda rights.
I believe we will see more and more of this. Perfectly normal people are becoming fed up with tyranny. I for one am willing to be arrested in protest because this has gone to far. And the mantra, “if it saves just one life”, doesn’t do anything for me. Stay home and keep your mask on but please let me live.
The conditioning that is going on during these days of COVID is astounding. We cede our rights, wear our masks, stay in our homes and...watch our country turn into a progressive gulag.
