Ex-NY Times reporter blasts governors over 'infuriating' lockdowns: 'They are fools and haven't read the data'

Former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson, the most prominent critic of the models informing lawmakers' response to the coronavirus crisis, told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Tuesday that local leaders should allow Americans to get back to work while protecting the most vulnerable populations.

"I'm getting sick of people saying, 'We don't know much about this virus, we don't know enough to know what the right steps are,'" Berenson said. "If that's true, why have we shut down the world?

"We do know a lot about this virus and we know the average age of death in the United States and worldwide is probably about 80 or 82 and we know about half, if not more, of the people who die in the United States die in nursing homes," Berenson said. "We know enough to know we should protect those people ... and instead, our leaders are spending time haranguing us about masks and destroying the economy with lockdowns and every day it makes less sense and every day it's more infuriating."

Maybe the have read the data but they are getting the desired effects. Masks seem to play a part in all of this.

Judy Mikovits seems very credible to me.

Expecting them to have passed high-school math and biology is a bit of a stretch.

The video still is here. Scroll down to the post by Pat (about a dozen posts) and the whole 26 minute thing is still there. For now, anyway.

I don’t know how to post it any other way as it’s not a YT thing.

So the Covid flubros started with champions from Stanford, Benavid, Ioannidis, Bhattacharya - all of whom are doctors. After these quacks were humiliated by the increasing evidence of excess mortality, they are nowhere to be found. Ioannidis gave an interview with Laura Ingraham in which he reversed his prior flubro position and said this:

He stated his study “is subject to scrutiny and needs to be peer-reviewed” and “the infection can be devastating”. He says the “initial decision to have full lockdowns were fully justified.” “the best scientists in the world were fully correct in making these decision”(3:50 in the video). it is a “crisis”, “many hospitals were not prepared to deal with wartime conditions” “many hospital workers can be infected” (5:00 in video) “we need to salvage hospitals which are under major threat” “we should take careful steps to open our societies with science” (5:58 in video) “I would avoid putting a lot of trust in predictions because we just don’t know” “we don’t know whether and how big a spike will be in winter” “I don’t think we should say here’s an expert who was wrong, here’s an expert who was right”
Basically he is walking back his claims that Covid19 is like seasonal flu

Then we had the “Emergency room doctors”, their dubious video had to be taken down from Youtube beceause it was so idiotic. Then we had “Scott Atlas” whoever the hell that is. If you look hard enough you can always find someone who believes in aliens. Now the flubros are down to their last man - an “ex-New York Times reporter”, Alex Berenson, who says among other garbage that the median age of Covid victims is 82. Here is the data from NYC which shows that that 52% of Covid victims are below age 75. 22% are from 45 to 64. Anyone on this thread in that age group? 3,000 dead in NYC from this age group. Oh but some of them were smokers you will say, or had high blood pressure or were wearing glasses.

New York City Covid Deaths
Number of
Age Deaths Percent
0-17 6 0.04%
18-44 549 4.00%
45-64 3,078 22.43%
65-74 3,403 24.80%
75+ 6,687 48.73%

You okay? Sound triggered to me.

I merely posted a way to find a video that had been pulled from YT, evidently.

But since you brought it up, let me be the first to say that my interest in the NY statistics is exactly ZERO. And any asshat that uses them to reflect a national condition should be dismissed as unserious at first blush.

NY couldn’t figure out to shut down the subway. Go dig up the MIT report on the subway and how they pinned down the infections right down to the stops. And don’t hand me how first responders needed to get to work; the videos on YT showing ppl not wearing scrubs. They weren’t rushing in to save humanity.

NY officials encouraged public events as late as March.

NY thought it was cool to insist that Covid patients go to nursing homes, when this was a disease that targeted the elderly.

Everything that could have possibly been done wrong, officials in NY did. Don’t you dare cite their numbers as a national model.

As Cuomo was railing about ventilators, his health officials didn’t bother to even tell him that ventilators would KILL his citizens, due to cytokine storm inflammation. It’s why 88% of ventilated ppl die. Ventilators INCREASE inflammation. I’m not supplying you with a link because I’m not in charge of your research. Get off your happy ass and do your own homework, before you make a fool of yourself.

And don’t reply to me. I’m busy.

I’ll reply to you.

Right on!

I’m sick of all the scaredy cats here and elsewhere.

Yes, it made some sense to shut commerce down to give the medical industry some time to bulk up supplies and knowledge.

They know far more than they did. Trump, Pence and their teams have done yeoman’s work at pulling supplies out of nowhere.

Many Governor’s have done extremely well. Governor’s like Cuomo, Whitmer and Hogan need to lose their jobs.

I live in Maryland and am pretty convinced the Hogan is scared out of his wits and making rash, poorly thought decisions as of now. He has a news conference today at 3. It could go either way but I suspect it will include more restrictions at a time when other states are opening up.

He likes the control and power.

He recently bought $9,000,000 in test kits from Korea, supposedly from a company owned by his wife’s relatives. They didn’t have FDA approval. (That was rushed through) Now we find out they didn’t bother to source any reagent or swabs so the kits are just paperweights.

They also bought $12,000,000 in N-95 masks with 50% downpayment. The masks were never delivered and the order was canceled wasting $6,000,000 in taxpayer money.

A state delegate was scheduled to speak to Reopen Maryland at a rally last Saturday. In writing, he threatened to arrest the elected Delegate. The delegate stayed home from the rally and the Governor was served a Federal Lawsuit that afternoon from the Delegate.

A US Congressman was to speak at another rally the same day. State and local police blocked the parking lot. (We moved to another location.)

He tried to prevent citizens from redressing a grievance with the Government. (See Amendment 1)

He’s scared of a virus when he should be scared of the people.

oh and one more thing:

I have traveled, via airplane, almost 6,000 miles in the last month. Gone thru 5 airports, shuttles, etc.

But I was able to see, in two states, the effect of the “shut it all down” types, and it’s not pretty. I hope you’re ready to pay the price.

DeWine has announced massive cuts to to Medicaid and schools in response to budget problems, once he burned thru Ohio’s massive rainy day fund. This is what he gets from listening to his dingbat health commissioner, who has been wrong about every thing every time she opens her mouth....and she’s been wrong by a factor of ten...as the press applauded her predictions. It’s ironic that her lefty nonsense will result in cuts to her favored lefty programs. And entirely predictable, btw. But hey, she’s got a song or video for that. (You’ll know what that means if you follow her press conferences!)

And my son works in the medical field. He runs a medical courier service that delivers tests, equipment, devices, etc to hospitals....hourly stops per day, so many drivers. I have an email from him from late March informing me that these shutdowns were doing to CRUSH the hospital systems.

Because ER service is so expensive, we assumed that it provided the funding. It’s exactly the opposite: the hospitals are funded by the non-essential services. Knee replacements, heart stents, chemo, etc. This is why hospitals are laying off providers.

University Hospitals of Cleveland cut the hours (and pay of some) of their staff, forced others to take unpaid leave because they estimate 42 million dollars a day of losses in health care in Ohio.
