Why are our governments not following the science and publishing the data?
This is undoubtedly a bad plague. But unlike in 1918, it attacks younger and healthier people in remarkably low numbers. There are certainly a lot of people at high risk, but the difference between shutting down everyone and shielding the vulnerable is the difference between a recession and an economic Hiroshima, a functioning health care system and a furloughed health system, a food crisis and a “mere” cut in jobs, wages, and 401Ks.

It is simply indefensible that our government, which is sitting on more data than any other country, has not put out any information showing the fatality rates by demographics. While there is a lot about this coronavirus we still do not know, it is incontrovertibly clear that there is a lopsided danger for 15%-20% of the most vulnerable population and most pronounced in nursing homes. It makes no sense to use meaningless top-line numbers lumping in the whole population, including those least at risk, to shut down our society and kill more people with the lockdown itself.

Depending on whose (or WHOs) definition you follow (they’re all numbers pulled from a monkey’s butt, you know!) I am an “oldster”.
Maybe even “at risk”.
Even so: like the NH state motto, I would rather LIVE FREE.
Even if that shortens my earthly days.
I choose QUALITY over QUANITY.

The left will screech about killing grandma in the nursing home. Fine, we must put measures in place to test nursing home patients and employees and restrict access.
Sadly, we all know people in nursing homes are potentially one tiny change away from death. We can’t deny that fact and need to protect them as best we can while letting others get back to work.

When the state puts you IN a jail cell for walking in a park with your child because it’s too dangerous but lets criminals OUT of jail cells for their health- It’s not about YOUR health!
When the state tells you it’s too dangerous to get treated by a doctor for chiropractic or physical therapy treatments yet deems a liquor store essential- It’s not about your health!
When the State lets you go to the grocery store or hardware store but is demanding mail-in voting, ITS NOT ABOUT YOUR HEALTH.
WAKE UP PEOPLE — If you think this is all about your health you’re mistaken! Please open your eyes! Stop being lead like blind sheep.”
I was looking at my state’s stats and 43% were in long term care for “neurological” conditions, ie dementia and alzheimers. Over half had serious cardio-pulmonary conditions. They are old, medically fragile and at end of life, do not resuscitate care. The common cold could tip them into the grave.
But yeah, lets put the young in debt for the rest of their lives to make sure us grandparents use up every bit of resources possible to the nth degree.
The young and healthy, and the rich and connected seem to have a much better chance of recovering from the wuhan flu.
One factor in 1918 was how many people had tuberculosis.

And yet my grandma is in a nursing home and has tested positive (fortunately she’s asymptomatic - even at 99 it seems she’s in good shape!) ~ possibly as a direct result of goobener Cuomo’s nursing home edict. I wonder if there’s any way to know ever know?
About half the nursing home is positive.
Back when my grandfather was in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s/dementia forgot which one, the staff basically said people like that Can be alive today then One single microscopic virus, even from the common cold gets near them, in a day or two later they will be dead. Same thing in my state, about half of the deaths were from long-term care facilities and of those most were from the facilities that specialized In people with more severe medical issues besides the “I’m elderly and can’t walk well”.
