Don’t get your hopes up about May 15. What it really means for NY coronavirus shutdown

Syracuse, N.Y. — New York’s Pause order, which shut down scores of businesses and commerce to keep the coronavirus from spreading, expires May 15.

But don’t read too much into that date. Be careful about getting your hopes up. It is almost certain that whole parts of the economy, including retail stores and restaurants, will not reopen immediately after that day.

May 15 is the end date of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s latest order, one that has been extended twice, tinkered with several more times (remember golf?) and almost certainly will be extended again in some form.

---snip---

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon expects Central New York to be among the first parts of the state to start allowing some businesses to reopen or expand production.

Yet even he was measured Sunday, giving some clues about what might open soon, and what might remain shut for weeks. Manufacturers and construction, yes, he said. Maybe landscapers and dentists, he added.

Barbers, restaurants and other retail? Not by mid-May, he said. “Salons aren’t a part of May 15,” he said.

I post this because I need someone to explain to me the difference in physical distancing, etc between a dentist office and a hair salon?

Seems to be a good enough of a example for a case to be filed by the DoJ in federal court to kick off AG Barr’s warnings about state and local governments over stepping their legal authority. As good of a time as any other to test out that theory of yours Mr AG.

Dentists have better lobbyists than hair salon owners? ;-)

Washington States’ governor just extended our lockdown to the end of May. So, hubby will be working from home for the rest of the month.

with any luck- this will be a wake up call to NY’ers to kick these liberal politicians/dictators out of offices as businesses all over NY go under because the gov hates President Trump- So far though they seem to excuse the fact that cuomo’s EO has caused 1000’s of deaths unnecessarily- which is sad, but now that businesses are going under, it might be enough to cause many to see the light- Not everyone can work from home-

It’s just insane that the evidence shows that many liberal run states are run into the ground- taxes are incredibly high, but people just keep voting them back in-

I didn’t see the press conference but a quick look at the slides shows criteria 2:

“In regions with few COVID cases, cannot exceed 15 new cases or 5 new deaths on a 3 day rolling average”

That should be pretty easy to game. Assume 7% positive rate (that’s what WA has shown through most of this, NY is down to 12% positive rate today), an increase in testing by 200 tests per day for 3 days should just about get you 14 new cases per day right there.

It is the dumber following the dumb especially in the NYC area. It is amazing to me to listen to people say how great the King is in this state.

Death rate in New York is dropping dramatically..... Cuomo is going to have to find a way to infect a bunch more old people in nursing homes quickly before the virus completely evaporates

He may be basing it on health need. dentist more important health wise then getting hair cut or colored or nails done.

They’ll just keep counting.

“We’ve haven’t talleyed the totals yet”
“We’re waiting on XYZ & ABC’s county totals”
“Yes, but they used a different system so . . .”

King Koomo need’s to get the D-RAT nod first.
Then he’ll abandon wholesale the entire state, and his “7 state” buying consortium.

No going into the office to work

What's the science behind this andy? Big risk being in an office with a door isn't it. And even in a "bullpen" arrangement, very easy to social distance by 6 feet.

Saratoga County is WAY below these stats. But because it is mainly a GOP county Cuomo will jerk them around.

Nature is getting in the way of his rise to dictatorship.
