From Southern California to the State Capitol, this week hundreds gathered across California to protest Gov. Gavin Newsoms stay at home order and demand the state economy reopen but for many families whove lost loved ones to coronavirus, the protests are a slap in the face.
For Stacey Silva of Gilroy, the protests are painful. COVID-19 killed her father.
It hurts my heart, she said. Unless they know the pain this virus causes they need to know the pain that Im suffering and others are suffering.
Silvas dad, Gary Young, was 66 when he died on March 17. Silva said he was a loving father and grandfather, employed at Lowes in Gilroy and well-known in the community. Just 10 months earlier, Silva lost her mother to cancer.
She said that not only did coronavirus rob her of holding her dads hand as he died, but she couldnt give him the tribute he deserved.
The inability to grieve and have a celebration of life is one of the hardest things, Silva said.
She said she understands people are tired of sheltering at home and anxious to return to work. But she said that with no vaccine and the death toll rising she feels protesters are being reckless.
If you are out there protesting and you bring the virus back to your family then what are you going to feel? You're going to feel the pain that I feel. Just stay home, its not that hard, Silva said.
But, the protestors are just exercising their constitutional right...I guess it is possible to get virus out there while protesting...But, we cannot live without taking any chances...
Who knows how long we have to wait for the vaccine? Maybe 10 years...
I am sure there are many people who feel like this lady...I have a feeling that this lady probably thinks that Governor Gavin is doing a great job...
Sorry Stacey but people die EVERY DAY. We live our lives the best we can and refuse to ball over with our knees to our heads due to this nonsense..
Same emotional appeals they make for gun control after mass shootings.
I’m so sorry for her loss. But the flip side, families are taking loved ones to the hospital for heart attacks, strokes and are told they cannot come in to be with loved one. This has to stop and not only that he shouldn’t have died alone, they should have suited a family member up with protective gear and allowed someone to be there.
What about the tens of millions of destroyed lives
Sympathy for the family members. Not sympathetic to their media-driven ignorance.
If the media was a true “free press” it would be exposing the unscientific myths being sold by so-called “experts” as far claiming what is scientifically “right” and socially “necessary”.
sorry for her loss but my heart hurt too when I see people doing things that could cause them problems as some of my loved ones died from.
After some time, maybe this lady’s brain and eyes will come to realize life, every moment, is precious and each person gets to make choices (even as simple as shall i go outside to get the paper off the front porch - or similar simple daily things) that can change their life and the lives of their loved ones.
Every moment is unique, important, precious, but we are not guaranteed the next.
Yes, Communists are cruel.
we don't know the specifics of his health...he probably most likely was in a high risk group....
he didn't deserve to die at all...
but a virus is a virus....most people, almost all, recover or don't even know they had it...
and we can not stop the lives of millions because of it....millions of people are important too...
So, if your father was killed in a car accident, you condemn everyone who is still driving?
idiots....
So, suddenly, according to Stacey and millions of other omnipotent moral busybodies, it’s NOW about locking down until a vaccine is created. I’ll wear a mask and distance to help protect others, but this shit ends now for me.
“What about the tens of millions of destroyed lives?”
Doesn’t matter how others have suffered. See, it’s all about how SHE has suffered. Her dad died so we all must give up the rest of our lives or something.
The bottom line is that over 99% of those infected will recover.
Sorry her dad didn’t make it, but you can’t destroy the lives of millions because of a relative handful of losses.
Im sorry she lost her father. Obviously the lockdown did not save him. The point of the protests is not that the virus isnt real or people havent died - they have. And it is a tragedy for their family and loved ones. The point is the lockdown has obviously not saved the people who have died nor is there any evidence it slows the spread of the virus. The point of the protests is that destroying the economy and lives by locking people in only adds to the tragedy not lessens it.
Very sad for her loss. However, or as the media says, BUT, we don’t have all the information necessary here.
One would want to know how the dad contracted the virus, experts say that UV kills the virus so standing a few feet away from a protester, for a limited period of time, in sunlight poses little risk. Also, one would want to know if the Father had co-morbidities in order to compare apples to apples.
Lastly, we would need to know how many people are dying from this lockdown, I haven’t seen any reliable numbers so I won’t assume, but it could be staggering, plus the other losses people are suffering from, plus another big one, suspension of constitutional rights - that needs to be factored in big time.
Here we go with the sick media push. You can’t protest!!! Trot out name of fill-in-the-blank dead person and aggrieved family member. MSM exploitation at its finest.
Good point
was this guy
obese?
diabetic?
heavy smoker?
asthmatic?
heart problems?
kidney problems?
co-morbidity issues in these cases never seem to make the funny papers.
I’ve lost family members but also realize that it is all part of the life we live here.
“What about the tens of millions of destroyed lives”
That too. Stupid leftard MSM aholes, they had to find an anti=Trump shill to sell this nonsense and added the death for added sympathy.
As long as they were not getting in the way..and/or totally freaking out...they were okay to be there.
