BEIJING - An internal Chinese report warns that Beijing faces a rising wave of hostility in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak that could tip relations with the United States into confrontation, people familiar with the paper told Reuters.
The report, presented early last month by the Ministry of State Security to top Beijing leaders including President Xi Jinping, concluded that global anti-China sentiment is at its highest since the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown, the sources said.
As a result, Beijing faces a wave of anti-China sentiment led by the United States in the aftermath of the pandemic and needs to be prepared in a worst-case scenario for armed confrontation between the two global powers, according to people familiar with the reports content, who declined to be identified given the sensitivity of the matter.
The report was drawn up by the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), a think tank affiliated with the Ministry of State Security, Chinas top intelligence body.
Reuters has not seen the briefing paper, but it was described by people who had direct knowledge of its findings.
I dont have relevant information, the Chinese foreign ministry spokespersons office said in a statement responding to questions from Reuters on the report.
Chinas Ministry of State Security has no public contact details and could not be reached for comment.

China declared a Peoples War against the US last May. Now they are preparing for it to go hot, because they know their economy is never coming back to what Xi promised their subjects.
In CCP history, at any time they have made a mistake, attention is diverted away from the communist leadership by whipping up nationalism and invoking an external enemy. This is more of the same, except now they feel their military is superior and they as the master race deserve Earth.
Just come clean and apologize...
The Chinese aren’t saving face by pretending it came from the wet market or some American soldier, and their hiding info by manipulating WHO while cornering the world PPE supply was just a misunderstanding.
They never got the type of backlash over Tiananmen that they should have because of GHW Bush.
Seems the dissatisfaction at home with the CCP needs a diversion.
You know, a common enemy to unite the people.
We should display support for the People of China they were sacrificed
I’m not buying that such a discussion got leaked to Reuters.
They are putting together a Schlieffen Plan. As they don't have combat experience - they need intricate attacks because they don't have any confidence they can fight in a real war.
China is in a real pickle and pressure on Xi due to his major act of cowardice and not getting ahead of this - he is actually responsible for all of this - 1 guy and it Xi Jingpeng. Now they still have a foreign currency problem, their #1 importer of goods is already involvedin a trade war, pissed because China got the US sick, The US economy is now in the crapper like the rest of the world which reduces demand for China's crap.
Xi is a dumbass to be getting into this blame game now all its going to do is further piss off everyone and if president Trump wins any money making industry that moved To china is coming back in a automated modern fashion.
This is entire industries like textiles, pharmacuticals, precursors, chemical plants the list goes on an on.
China must stop president Trump winning at all costs. I think Xi sees his country is going to collapse unless he can rapidly stimulate his economy and that ain't going to happen now. He screwed
Chinese families with one very spoiled child will not tolerate a war with the US.
There won’t be armed confrontation unless the Commie Chinese start it.
This is not going to end well,is that a click I fear.
Reuters received these documents from the Epoch Times, who has a ton of inside sources.
The full report is at the Epoch Times, this is just Reuters plagiarism of that report.
China may be in for a nasty re-run of the Boxer Rebellion. Bad time to be a foreign investor with property and assets stuck inside the country.
Their ham-handed attempts to lie about it are only making things worse for them.
It’s like a retarded cat that took a dump on a marble floor and is trying to scratch around to cover it up.
I’m no fan of China. But riddle me this: if there’s a concerted effort to pull manufacturing as much as possible out of China and attempt to hurt heir economy as much as possible - why would they not just release another virus into the US. They’d have nothing to lose. Our borders are so porous it would be child’s play. The next decade is going to suck.

Only this time Google isn’t just censoring search results in China. Their Youtube wing is deleting videos that they fundamentally disagree with even when posted by practicing licensed physicians.

That should be interesting - popcorn sales to skyrocket
>>Other CCP/economic power bases in China, outside of Beijing, are furious with Xi for messing up their gravy train.
There is a LOT of gravy in China. A Communist Party “mayor” was found with $34,000,000,000 in cash and gold in his basement.
No way you can steal millions EVERY DAY for years and not get caught.
It was a slush fund and the news last year barely made a ripple in the world news.

````
Two things:
1) Xi has not consolidated his power, making him vulnerable to usurpation/death by other powerful party members.
2) That Xi has pushed or allowed the whole virus thing to get out of hand internally makes the possibly of traditional ways of dealing with these matters rise to the forefront: revolt and civil war - exercises in military prowess and mass death at which China excels.
I have faith in our military and OUR President. We am sure the military can handle whatever comes our way, but hopefully not it will go nuclear. I think China relies on having 1.3 billion people versus our 325k, not including illegals but includes Democrats.
