The United States is set to reshore substantial manufacturing capacity as China’s demographic time bomb will soon explode, pushing wages higher.....China’s aging labor force is set to shrivel by about 35 million per year over for the next three decades.

Enodo Economics forecasts the most likely industries to reshore back to the United States include automobiles; electrical machinery; wood and grass product; chemical fiber; chemical material and product; transportation equipment; rubber and plastics; pharmaceuticals; and non-metallic mineral product.

They’ve been working to outsource the labor to other countries for years. Only with deeper political control in those nations.

“...35 million per year over for the next three decades.”

Yeh, now that’s my kind of forward thinking! And, I am sure, of the corrupt politicos in Washington! (spit!)

I would suggest that we need to develop a long-term strategy and only out-source to countries that are ‘friendly’ (examples like Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, UK, South Korea).

Come August, I expect some storefronts to start warning folks that Christmas toy production lines are behind in China, and you will have to make up some story for the kid that the North Pole has Corona issues, and Santa’s work-shop is not going have the items ready to go.

about 35 million per year over for the next three decades

30X35=1,050
China 2020: 1.42 billion
China 2050: 420 million

or so the story projects

Same thing I thought

It’s nonsense

Bunk

I will believe it when I see it. When this Chinese virus dies down it will be back to normal. Apple CEO Tim Cook said they have no plans to leave china.

Yeah I have heard for years that China has a hidden population of young people born during the one child years that were never recorded and exist off the books so to speak, hidden by their parents to avoid the authorities.

Been hearing it for years. Never going to happen. The elites make their money by using slave labor to make a product for $1 and sell it for $50.

Wood and grass product? I thought China had a shortage of trees. And grass product? I thought the USA had plenty of grass. If China suddenly has a shortage of workers, they will simply give incentives to get the peasants to make more babies. Ergo... a population explosion.

It’s a prediction in the way “There’s going to be snow in Alaska next January” is a prediction.

We need to step up steel production and manufacturing of heavy custom machining equipment in the U.S.A. (for making parts), and it needs to be much more distributed this time (many smaller shops with independent owners).
