A federal judge in California ruled in favor of the United States Soccer Federation on most of the key points in the ongoing wage discrimination lawsuit brought by members of the U.S. women's national team player pool, dealing a potentially fatal setback to the players in the high-profile case.
Players based the lawsuit filed last year on two grounds: first, that U.S. Soccer violated the Equal Pay Act by paying them less than members of the men's national team; and second, that the federation discriminated against them under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, specifically with regard to workplace conditions.
Judge R. Gary Klausner on Friday ruled for U.S. Soccer's motion for summary judgment with regard to the Equal Pay Act, stating in his decision that the players "have not demonstrated a triable issue that WNT players are paid less than MNT players."
The court's decision Friday also granted in part U.S. Soccer's motion for summary judgment with regard to the Title VII claims, ruling that the federation did not discriminate against players by having them play more games on artificial turf than men's players during the period in question.

the only thing I care about less than soccer is women’s soccer
Commie Kickball!
Wasn’t this the women’s team that was beaten, badly by a team of teenage boys.
Equality would demand that the boys team gets their wages.
Legally produced Contracts are wonderful things.
Next time get a better negotiator.
A U-15 boy’s team crushed them in Dallas.
Ann Coulter Slams U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Over White House Invitation By Invoking The Under-15 Boys Team Who Beat Them In 2017
Personally, I think their leftist views should lead to their salaries being the same as the average US salary even though the average salary is earned by a person doing a real job and not just playing a game.
Perfect! Im keeping that.
Make this a simple argument.
A guy’s game can draw 45,000 fans in most European countries and Latin America. A gal’s game in the same region....will be lucky to draw 5,000 fans. It’s this measurement that the salary situation should be drawn from.
Even in most US cities....where women’s soccer is organized and run...it’s marginally working. The Chicago team plays in an arena that can hold a max of 20,000 fans. If you look at pictures of the arena for these games...it’s maybe 30-percent full. No idea what they charge, but it can’t be more than $10 a seat.
It is NOT the same product. That is the end of the argument.
Well, when Megan Rapinoe is (vice) president, she’ll fix all this.
If you know the game, men’s soccer at the highest level is very exciting and entertaining.
The players are the best conditioned athletes in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo’s physic puts LeBron James’ to shame. Ronaldo makes more than James in endorsements, has more money than James, and will likely make huge money as movie star when he is done playing.
As fanatical as Kobe and Michael were in their conditioning, Ronaldo is even more so.
He is a very attractive guy, and has a stellar personal reputation. He is also a very generous man with his time and money.
Do the women’s teams draw as many fans, and as many TV viewers, and generate as much revenue as the men’s teams?
That is the starting point, and I’d bet that current contracts are based on the past answers to the above questions.
The WNT actually brings in more money than the men in some years. However, most of the men play in the five biggest leagues in Europe where the pay is phenomenal. Unless it is a huge match between the U.S., it’s a “Thanks, but no thanks.” Their European clubs will not release them unless it’s for a major tournament which doesn’t interfere with their schedule.
Most of the leagues have a winter break of about one month because of weather, and most teams go to a place with nice weather to train, usually in Southern Europe.
There are international breaks throughout the league schedules for international or UEFA play.
In the history of sports, has there even a more loathsome, unlikable, obnoxious, spoiled brat group of individuals than the US Womyns soccer team?
?? In Europe, the break is in the summer, not the winter. Here in the UK, football [soccer] always used to be known as the national winter game (in contrast to cricket, the national summer game). But as the seasons have got longer, it's not so clear-cut now.
OK the EPL will be taking a mid-season break in February with half of the teams not being scheduled one week and the other half the next weekend. They just started doing it this season.
