Modoc County going against governor's Stay-at-Home order

Alturas, Calif. — With no confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), Modoc county plans to reopen businesses on May 1, which goes against the state's stay-at-home order.

Modoc county will allow non-essential businesses to begin to reopen, making it the first county to ease out of the governor's stay-at-home order.

"We're doing it very strategically and in stages just as the governor is recommending and we feel confident in that," said Modoc County Sheriff Tex Dowdy. "The county in itself, the businesses are moving forward without us, so it was in our best interest to get some framework out there and some guidelines for them to follow."

With no confirmed cases in the county, they believe they're in a better situation than the rest of the Northstate.

But law professor Leslie Jacobs at the University of the Pacific says the guidelines in place are to prevent the spread of disease apply equally to each county.

"County can't do things that conflict with what the state has said. They can't be opened," said Professor Leslie Jacobs. "There are a number of counties that have had more restrictive rules than the state, and so that is likely okay, but the counties can't have less restrictive rules."

The county's plan says businesses must continue social distancing and extensive cleaning if they're to open, but the governor says we must make meaningful adjustments and not rush into reopening.

"Nothing would please me more than pleasing those local elected officials and help them help all of us move through this pandemic, but we're not out of the woods. No part of this state, no part of this country, few parts of the globe have been immune to this virus," said Governor Gavin Newsom.

Newscum will be ripped from Modoc county to LA County as mayors, sheriffs and others tell Newscum to take a Flying Selfinflicted Intercourse.

Harmeet Dhillon challenges California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s increasingly draconian lockdown orders:

Civil rights attorney Harmeet Dhillon, founder of the Center for American Liberty, joins Laura Ingraham on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’

LOS ANGELES— Gov. Gavin Newsom directed California residents to a list of outdoor activities that the state said are still permissible during the shelter-in-place order, drawing ire on social media.

Newsom reportedly directed state residents to read the list that includes activities like Badminton (singles), BMX biking, gardening (not in groups), car-washing and tree climbing. The state still wants safe social distancing to be practiced.

“We want you to see sunsets,” Newsom said, according to SFGate. “We want you to enjoy activities outdoors. What they don’t want is people congregating outside in large groups.”

The idea that the state would make a list to inform its residents that gardening is allowed did not sit well with many on social media. Residents in the state have been inside for weeks and some have already spoken out on what they see as a Sacramento overreach.

“I swear they made this list by watching a California tourism commercial,” one Twitter user posted. Another wrote, “California, today, released a list of activities that the Liberals in charge are allowing us citizens to do. The list includes ‘watching the sunrise and watching the sunset.’ How gracious of the all-powerful liberal leadership.”

Newsom has insisted that keeping the coronavirus at bay is his top priority and he has been praised for his early approach to the pandemic. But there is beginning to be fissures in the state and more pushback from business owners to surfers.

Some scientific studies are raising questions about whether the restrictions are necessary to protect people.

One expert described outdoor exercise as “likely low-risk,” according to SFGate.com. “The risks of virus transmissibility in the air outdoors is likely quite low in those contexts, although this risk hasn’t been definitively measured,” Angela Rasmussen, a virologist told Vox. “Outside, things like sunlight, wind, rain, ambient temperature, and humidity can affect virus infectivity and transmissibility...”

A Japan study found that “one is 18.7 times more likely to contract the virus indoors” instead of outdoors, since the virus is primarily transmitted via respiratory droplets on surfaces and not through the air, SFGate reported.

But state health officials say guidelines are in place to protect citizens from a highly contagious virus.

Earlier Thursday, Newsom cracked down on beachgoers in Southern California, initiating a “hard close” of beaches in Orange County in response to what he considered social distancing violations last weekend.

Harmeet Dhillon, the California Republican Party vice chairwoman, told “The Ingraham Angle” Thursday that Newsom “went off the deep end” with his restrictions.

“The goalposts keep moving with this governor,” Dhillon responded. “At the beginning of this crisis, many of us were complimentary of his willingness to work with our president but in the last couple of weeks, he’s really gone in the opposite direction.

Sorry Tex, but we don't need any frickin' framework. Since when does a Sheriff become a medical expert, a business expert, a constitution expert? Here's the individual strategy that every healthy American should follow, and not at the recommendation for a f'n government employee: 1.) Stop being afraid, grow a set. 2.) Open front door. 3.) Step outside and go on with life as usual.

That's all California needs is a Lefty law professor saying these counties can't do what they want in the face of an already Lefty Governor clamping down on people having too much fun on the beaches last weekend.

Do these liberals actually think this virus is going to just pack up and go away if they force everyone to stay indoors? The virus is not going anywhere. Some people will get sick from it, some will die from it but a whole lot of people will recover from it. We'll get immune from it and then face the next virus that shows up in the next cycle.

This is nothing more than the liberal politicians and bureaucrats practicing their dictatorship skills by clamping down hard on the population and controlling their movements, economic viability and livelihoods and happiness.

It was almost like Newsom threw a party for people on the beach last weekend but told them not to have any fun. We can't have anyone having fun, now can we? Sets a bad example for all of the rest of the prisoners in the gulag.

These liberal governors continuing to lock down their states while other states start opening up and going back to work and normalizing life, is like have a peeing section in the swimming pool. Just don't pee in our end.

We live in a free country where "We the People" tell the government what to do, not the other way around. You'll see more and more civili disobedience as these liberals try to wield more power to control the population. People will eventually say stuff it.
