To our betters in the American ruling class:
Just a note to say thanks for giving us a much-needed lesson in the wisdom of our Founding Fathers, who were not shy at all in admonishing us to be wary of surrendering the kind of government power you people have wielded, supposedly for our benefit, since the Chinese Communist virus hit our shores at some indeterminate point in the recent, or maybe not-so-recent, past. What you’ve done has made an abject mockery of the idea we have God-given, unassailable rights. Instead what we have are permissions from our political betters. Thomas Jefferson and Samuel Adams would be busy decorating trees with your hides for less than we’ve tolerated from you in the past three months.
And why? Because they knew what we’ve apparently forgotten — as another of the titans of our past once said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Ben Franklin wouldn’t have a particularly fond judgment of what we’ve let you do lately.
Because what he knew, and what Jefferson and the rest knew, was that a government to which you surrender your natural rights will shortly abuse and debase them, and the power to whom it’s been ceded won’t easily be reclaimed by the people.

Well, how dangerous is the virus? Well, it could kill more than two million of us, and everybody is at risk. Or maybe more like 250,000 of us, most of whom are old. Or, perhaps it’s more like 100,000 of us, and the vast majority have serious health issues like morbid obesity, hypertension, diabetes, or are immunocompromised. Or maybe it’s 60,000.
Which is a number more like a bad flu season. But we don’t dare call this the flu! It’s 10 times more dangerous than the flu.
Well, not unless you’re over 60 and have those comorbidities. If you’re 45 or younger and you’re healthy, the flu is probably more likely to kill you than the Chinese coronavirus.
And then those studies come out and — guess what! — this virus has about the same fatality rate, once you project all the people who’ve actually had it, as the flu. Wonder what the numbers would have looked like if you hadn’t copied the Italians’ model of chalking up everybody who even thought of having the virus as a virus death. Sometimes you’re not even testing people before assigning their deaths to the virus. Hey, running up the score is good for getting federal disaster funding, right? Better make sure the public stays scared!

There are Statesmen and Stateswomen and then there is an underclass known as politicians. Most all of our elected and unelected are politicians. Statesmen and Statewomen are an extremely rare class as has always been.

How many of the people whose deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 as counted by the CDC were actually tested for COVID-19 as opposed to simply being assumed to have been caused by COVID-19?
I love it. Unfortunately, this will trigger half of the people here at FR. An odd situation where some of the most cowardly wimps on earth have been mixed in with another group that truly values liberty and the Constitution.
Talking to my insurance broker about her bout with C19 it turns out she was diagnosed but never tested. The doctor just said yep, c19.
Some people just need triggerin'.

Does she know any positives? Was she quarantined for two weeks? Her contacts traced and quarantined?
Wonder if her doc is pulling insurance fraud?
She should get an antibody test in a few weeks.
The American people need to show them all who is the boss.
I recently received an email from a guy who said he was really ill for about 4 weeks in January. He swears he had the Covid but just tested negative for the antibodies. Evidently the test is only about 80% accurate......
As far as I know she was treated like a C19 case, quarantine etc but she was never tested. She had serious trouble breathing.

We need to know how many folks died of the regular yearly flu before we can determine how many died of covid-19..
I believe I read somewhere that there were 80,000 people who died of the flu in the 2017-18 season...
