HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) Protesters rallied again Monday, asking for Governor Ned Lamont to consider reopening the state.
We appreciate his thinking of taking care of us all, but people are suffering right now and theyre not suffering with COVID, said Marnee Palladino.
One of the biggest complaints is they dont understand why the big box stores can be open while mom and pop shops remain closed.
They believe if Lamont does the right thing by reopening the state, people will do the right thing.
Its unfair that big box stores like Walmart are able to be open while smaller businesses are not, a Manchester resident told News 8.

Protesters like Rick said they support the message but feel people can handle themselves if the state were to reopen.
People are going to be safe and do the right thing, he said. I am an immunocompromised veteran. I am doing the right thing, covering myself up with a face mask while Im out here.

The original title of the article was "Protesters ask Gov. Lamont to reopen CT as coronavirus hospitalizations continue to trend downward". We weren't "asking" Gov. Lamont for anything... we were DEMANDING that Lamont at least *start* to reopen Connecticut, like other states in the U.S.
As of today, Gov. Ned Lamont and his clueless task force still have NO plan, and apparently NO ideas for when the hell the state will return to some kind of 'normal'.
Trump has pulled the national Slow the Spread guidelines.
These Govs are now on their own.
And it appears most of them are politically paralyzed.
Probably a good thing for long-term GOP electoral prospects, but not good for the country in the short term.

Good ole Red Ned.
People are right.
If the big box stores can be open, the smaller ones can too.
There’s no need for the shut down to continue and this stringing people along with *two more weeks* and then another *two more weeks*, ad nauseum, is not going to fly much longer.
Yup. Our idiot Gov. Comrade Ned Lamont is like a deer in the headlights at his pressers. Totally indecisive, and naturally he's waiting for Fed $$$ to bail out broke CT, like many other Blue States. Lamont is probably the most politically paralyzed of all of the governors.
I've never hated Connecticut more than I do now. :-(
Their brains are frozen but their mouths are still yapping.
And not just Dems. Mike DeWine in Ohio has done at least three triple back-flips on the subject of masks.
There's not a snowball's chance in hell that a single Rat Governor (or a single RINO one...like in Massachusetts) will do anything but "follow the science" and keep the lockdowns going as long as possible.
The Rats are already specifically on record as being willing to tank the economy if that's what it takes...and they, and their pals in "science",have basically succeeded.
He’s a Never Trumper, isn’t he? Our Governor,”Tall Deval” (it’s a long story),is a RINO who’s never tried to hide his contempt for the President...and he just extended our lockdown.
Yep, I thought Gov. Ducey of AZ would be a reasonable Republican, especially as he owned his own business, but NO, he came out yesterday and said data was important in decision making and so we are going to remain stay at home until May 15th... Mind you, it’s been over 100 degrees with record breaking heat for April and they say Sunlight is the best way to burn off the virus...
I know! One of the few good things about CT (and the northeast in general) is that we have a wonderful variety of supermarkets and smaller, family-owned food markets. Those ARE open (at least in my area) and are doing fine - social distancing and all that.
Also many very small family-owned liquor stores are open for business.
I know of a tiny General Store in a town I won't name (I don't want them to get in trouble!) that has been open as usual the entire time during this pandemic. They have a sign on the door that say only 5 customers can come in at a time. At this store, you can buy sandwiches, etc. inside, then sit outside at one of their picnic tables. Just like 'normal'.
So why can't other small stores / businesses open in CT?? Connecticut is FUBAR.
Yeah... but there’s nothing “Good” about him, believe me.
Wow... that’s really surprising. I actually thought Arizona was up and running by now. May 15th? Ridiculous!
I wasn't on Monday's thread because I was at this 'rolling rally' in Hartford, CT on Monday evening. With hubby and several friends. Surprisingly good turnout in the cold rain on Monday! People in CT are angry and beyond restless. Enough already with the damn shutdown!
"Republican" (?) Gov. DeWine has been very, very strange during this pandemic. I've seen several of his appearances on TV. And what's with that leftist 'health director' (or whatever her title is) that is often by his side??
Ohio deserves better!
Good for you, FRiend...very exciting! Hope to see you all on Sunday night for the “Back to Work” Town Hall.
Listening to Charlie(Parker, Faker)Baker drone on about how the state just isnt ready to open up makes me want to pull out my hair. I now have a lot more hair than 6 weeks ago. I get the feeling hes going to drag this on as long as possible.
Exactly! I don't think they will succeed though.
What IS going on with your Gov. Charlie Baker (or Charlie Parker, as Sleepy Joe Biden calls him, lol)??
We live only 5 miles from the MA state line. We have been hoping Baker would reopen MA so at least we could go to a hair salon, restaurant, etc. at some point soon. Maybe use the YMCA in Westfield, MA since ours in CT is still closed up tight.
From what I just heard on Howie Carr's radio show, Baker isn't interested in reopening Massachusetts anytime soon either. Why not start a stepped reopen like other states??
We live 5 miles from the MA state line. We were hoping to experience a bit of 'normalcy' in your state SOON.
So far all of the 'free' states that are reopening are a l-o-n-g drive from Connecticut and the northeast. :-(
