So we're closing businesses all over the country to stop a New York-centered epidemic, but New York is even now running their subways 24 hours a day?

Uhhhh guys a little late on this
I guess the saying better late then never would apply here
They should have closed it down for 2 weeks when the SHTF and I bet NYC infections would not be nowhere near they are today.

Ridiculous. He just wants to be able to say he closed the subway.

I like how he ordered that they be thoroughly sanitized on a daily basis.
After 120 years, why start now?

New York City's MTA should have severely cut back on MTA transit services to encourage social distancing like by late February 2020. 😠👎

No, this makes sense.
They can start getting the homeless out of the subway cars; the subway has become a moving hotel for the NYC homeless.
As long as they ultimately go back to full schedule during the day, this is good. They limited the number of trains recently, causing crowding both because trains and since the homeless take up so many seats. Crowding not a good thing!

We call that closing the barn door after the horses have bolted.

The article fails to answer an important question: How will the closure affect the number of subway fight videos posted on Worldstar?

After 120 years, why start now? The filth and stench are part of the charm (getting mugged used to be a big draw, too). Isn't that what tourists go to NYC for?

I can’t believe they weren’t already doing this!
In Northern California, we have BART Trains, which operate somewhat similar to subways in New York.
As I recall, most every station has a time where certain trains are not running, so that they may be cleaned.
I haven’t ridden a BART in about five years, so that may have changed. Usually, the cleaning is done about 4AM.
The outside concrete is later steam cleaned with hot, hot water.

The Devil in there is in the details. WHO precisely is going to get them out of the cars? The NYPD? Will they be permitted to use knight sticks? Cause that is probably going to be required in a lot of cases. Will the ACLU have attorneys line-up fifteen deep when they do? Will some Obama judge rule that they have a right to sleep in subway cars?

so the homeless will get off and sleep at the stations. It’s not like they have a home to go home to.
