Dear Costco Member,
To help protect our employees and members, effective May 4, 2020, all Costco members and guests must wear a face covering that covers the mouth and nose, at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition.
Costco employees are required to wear face coverings, and now we are asking that Costco members do so too. We know some members may find this inconvenient or objectionable, but under the circumstances we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience. This is not simply a matter of personal choice; a face covering protects not just the wearer, but others too.
In short, we believe this is the right thing to do under the current circumstances. Although some may disagree with this policy or question its effectiveness, were choosing to err on the side of safety in our shopping environments. Costco has continued to operate during this crisis as an essential business in all of our communities, and our employees are on the front lines. As part of a community, we believe this simple act of safety and courtesy is one that Costco members and employees can undertake together.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recommends the use of face coverings in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. CDC advises that face coverings can help slow the spread of the virus, including among those who are not aware they carry it. However, the use of a face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while at Costco.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you,
Craig Jelinek
President and CEO, Costco Wholesale
No problem. I will take my business elsewhere.
No problem. I will take my business elsewhere.
This might become a requirement of many of the big retailers.
I agree. What a ridiculous requirements. Especially at this point in time.
Yes. Absolutely. Stand on your constitutional right to spread contagion. We’re right behind you bro!
Costco is more leftist than most people realize. This totalitarian demand proves it.
Remember when they filed Bibles in their fiction section in their book department in stores? Thats when I cancelled my membership.
Now, even better reason to not shop there.
I ain't wearing a damned mask and no damned liberal ass-smooching food store is going to put that requirement on me as a condition to spend my money.
Apparently, they don't want my money, anyway.
So...everybody is happy.
I’ll wear the dang mask. Costco is the only place I can find 36 oz. jars of Sander’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. I ain’t giving them up!
And then there is the ADA. Add to that, if someone gets into distress due to wearing a mask.
I hope every one of these places that require customers to wear a mask get their butts sued off.
So, the statement, “This is just temporary, a few weeks”, has turned into 8 weeks and counting.
We are now a nation of germophobe pussies, ignorant of the world around us, wearing bandannas like they are magical masks.
“Yes. Absolutely. Stand on your constitutional right to spread contagion. Were right behind you bro!”
If masks are so darn effective, why not just have baseball and basketball games? Simply require everyone to wear a mask right?
“We are now a nation of germophobe pussies, ignorant of the world around us, wearing bandannas like they are magical masks.”
That is the size of it. I’m ashamed at what my country has become.
So now it’s gonna look just like the land where all their junk comes from.
Whatta great future for our kids: livin’ in the Sino-Mexican Wonderworld.
Bring masks and kneepads, gonna need both.
Maybe this will keep my husband out of Costco, resulting in a much better bottom line for the household.
I’ve been carrying a summer camp bandanna around in my purse for several weeks, but I’ve never had to tie it over my face. I almost made my son wear it in Walmart the other day - after I looked at his teeth - but he’s so much taller than I am that it would have been a real struggle to tie it on him.
With appropriate measures I don't have a problem with that, actually, but I'm not the one insisting that you have a constitutional right to be a jackass.
I have a medical condition called Sinusitis that restricts my oxygen levels already. I am medically unable to wear a mask.
Make one out of a Sam’s Club cloth shopping bag.
They didn’t even make VP Pence wear one to a Covid unit
