Mitch McConnell plans to confirm Donald Trump's nominations for federal judges when Senate returns to Washington over advice of Capitol Hill physician

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will be back to prioritizing President Trump’s judicial nominations when the Senate returns to Washington on Monday.

A Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing for a controversial judicial pick has been slated for Tuesday, according to NBC News, which will be one of the first things senators tackle when work resumes.

House Democrats announced Tuesday that they will no longer come back to D.C. on May 4, due to health concerns expressed by the Attending Physician of the United States Congress.

“There was a risk to members that he would not recommend taking,” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on a call with reporters Tuesday, explaining that the doctor pointed to the fact that D.C.’s coronavirus cases haven’t peaked yet.

Hoyer also explained that it didn’t make sense for the House to come back into session when the contents of the next coronavirus aid package haven’t been worked out.

McConnell has stood firm on senators coming back to work. …

Can Republicans house members show up at the house, and fill CSPAN time by making speech’s?

Same reason everyone should vote in person on the day of the election with ID.

Actually not. There is no need for a secret ballot for legislooters. They should be on record for every vote. This can be done electronically just as easily as it can be done in person. It is a trivial exercise. There is no reason whatsoever for them all having to work in the District of Criminals.

It would have to be biometric, not just with a smartcard and PIN.

It would have to be set up so that ONLY the elected official can physically vote, not a staff member in his place.

The challenge is that many times, the voting goes back and forth as the members wheel and deal on the floor of the chamber. How would they effectively mimic that with electronic voting, so that a member can change their vote during the voting period based on real-time negotiating?

Sounds like the Capitol Hill Physician is dancing to Nancy’s tune. Glad Mitch is ignoring the advice.

All House Republicans should return to work on Monday and loudly proclaim they are all present and are ready to resume the public’s business as they were elected to do and if the Dimocrats fail to show up then start asking and pointedly and very loudly where are all the stalling liberals hiding at today? Under a damp rock perhaps?!

It’s still a trivial app even if you want biometrics involved. None of this stuff is rocket science. Since you don’t have to worry about anonymity, you could have a working version of an app for this for the iphone in a weekend that requires fingerprint verification for each vote. It’s not like they are going to need to be able to handle millions, or even thousands of transactions a minute.

“Excellent! Even if the Democrats win in 2020 or 2024, this is President Trump’s long-term legacy.”

If the Democrats win, it will be a communist takeover - and nothing will keep any of those judges in place after that. The law as you know it will not exist. It will be rule by the order and by force.

We’ve been burned too many times. Never wise to count GOP judge chickens before they hatch. Souter, Kennedy, Blackmun, Roberts, etc., etc. GOP judges just do not have ideological uniformity and loyalty to the Constitution.

They should make Democrat Hose Members come back and restock shelves at the DC Walmart.

It’s nice knowing Pelosi thinks the House is Non Essential. It means I finally agree with her on something.

Isn’t it an amazing coincidence that everyone who “recklessly” wants to open up the economy, is Republican, and that everyone who “in the interest of public safety” wants to extend the shutdown, is a Democrat?

My wife and I have been making a game out of it - called “Guess who is a Democrat”.

Whenever a politician, political spokesman or pundit takes to the airwaves, we avoid looking at the caption and try to guess the party.

If they say it’s too soon to reopen the economy, or that we have to extend social distancing farther into May, we will both shout (usually at the same time) “Democrat!”.

We always seem to guess right.

Does anyone still doubt this is all politics?

Yes, there is a virus, but EVERYTHING about the response has been pure politics. The Democrats are 100% for remaining shut down, and Republicans are 100% for reopening as soon as possible. Does anyone really believe Democrats and Republicans have a different understanding of the science of epidemiology?

Of course not. The Democrats knew the strength of the economy was President Trump’s ticket to a re-election landslide, and see this as a chance to tank it. Pure and simple. So they launched a fear mongering campaign.

Fear-mongering by the Left has been so successful that the public is now completely brainwashed, and President Trump has no choice but to “stay ahead of the story”, lest his administration be branded as “under-responsive”, AKA, Katrina.

This Covid-19 propaganda operation was carried out in textbook Communist Party fashion, and has dealt a devastating blow to the MAGA movement. It should be a warning to all patriots:

Leftist propaganda, via the Red Chinese-owned fake news, is the #1 threat to the Republic - something needs to be done about it. And quickly.

Will it only verify on the sending side that the actual Congressman voted, or does there need to be redundant validation on the receiving side to prevent a hacked vote transaction?

In person on the day of the vote. Anything else is subject to fraud and unseen influence which are already bad. If a pol cannot make it in person then their fitness should be suspect. Strom Thurmond could still vote if it was done electronically and Ginsburg could vote forever also.

There is no secret vote for Congress they have to vote in person and in public on all laws.

Yes! There's no excuse for not doing it in person.

The day is coming when virtual people will populate the Senate and all Fed government.

A great move "Looker" made in 1981 had that as a sub plot.

It can also be done with fake electronics.
