Trump Surprised After Yahoo Reporter Apologizes to Him for Misinformation

A Yahoo! reporter got his facts wrong during President Trump's briefing with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Tuesday. The reporter, Hunter Walker, asked Trump why South Korea was far outpacing the U.S. on testing per capita. A surprised President Trump shot back that Walker's numbers didn't sound quite right, and Dr. Deborah Birx confirmed his suspicions a few minutes later. Addressing Walker, Birx corrected him that while South Korea is at 11 tests per 100,000, the U.S. is at 17 per 100,000.

"Alright, are you going to apologize Yahoo!?" Trump asked the reporter. "That's why nobody knows who you are, including me."

Birx was a bit more civil, simply telling Walker to double check his numbers.

Then something amazing happened. He actually apologized.

In the Oval Office, I asked about test rates and infection rates compared to South Korea. President Trump and Dr. Birx said I was wrong that they've done more tests per capita. Trump said I should apologize. They did not address multiple questions about our higher infection rate.— Hunter Walker (@hunterw) April 28, 2020

We have passed South Korea in the number of tests conducted per capita. I misread the mobile version of this chart and am sorry about that @realDonaldTrump . Our infection rate is far higher though as I noted.— Hunter Walker (@hunterw) April 28, 2020

Instead of continuing to gloat, Trump was grateful for the apology. He thanked Walker during his White House press conference with small business owners who shared their testimonies about how they had benefitted from the Payment Protection Program.

I understand. You have a poor opinion of Dr. Oz.

You apparently have no opinion about his observation, as you seem to be avoiding discussing it.

Ha! I already gave you 2 reasons it was bunk.

I don’t agree with the premise, and the expert you cited is a quack.

“The infection rate doesn’t matter, it is the rate of hospitalizations and deaths that matter.”

It is not that the infection rate doesn’t matter. It WOULD matter a great deal if we knew it - but we don’t.

And that is the real problem: The estimated “Infection rate” being reported is complete crap. It does not estimate the percent of the population infected, as it should.

Until substantially more randomized testing is completed, scientists won’t have any idea what the infection rate” is. The bogus “rate” being reported is based on on confirmed cases - and therefore wildly understates how many of us have been infected.

It would have been great to do randomized testing right off the bat, and know what the true (and far higher) infection rate was. Or in lieu of that, at least an admission by bureaucrats like Fauci that they didn’t KNOW yet.

Instead, what they did was foist a wildly understated figure based on confirmed cases, which they knew was just the tip of the iceberg.

But here’s the real story of Covid19, which should have everyone up in arms. Bureaucrats like Fauci purposely and knowingly used the understated infection rate (based on confirmed cases rather than estimated total cases) in order to make the morbidity rate more alarming.

They lied to the public to scare us into complying with their misguided social distancing experiment.

When the dust settles, and accurate Covid19 morbidity rates rank it lower than seasonal flu, automobile accidents, and many other causes of death, one thing will be painfully clear:

If the public had been given the truth, and had the flu-bro’s been listened to instead of Fauci’s chicken little brigade, the economy would NEVER have been shut down - the stock market and 401Ks would have been breaking records, unemployment would still be at historic lows, and millions of small businesses would still be in operation. The President would still be holding rallies each week and the Trump Train would be unstoppable.

We have been played. The anti-Trump Left saw panic in China and Italy and fresh off their impeachment fail, they were determined not to let this crisis go to waste.

I hope that when all of this is over, Deplorables everywhere are still with President Trump, and have not been fooled by this most recent coup attempt.

No, you have one reason - your opinion of Dr. Oz.

That does not mean that the data, once available, will disprove his observation. It is known from other sources that the east and west coast variants of the virus are not the same, genetically.

Have a good day.

Yeah, keep making excuses for the NYC and NY mismanagement of the virus.

IF the virus variants are different, it does not necessarily follow that is the cause for the high death rates in NY.

But it is a fact that NY exposed the most vulnerable by forcing infected into quarantined nursing homes, and crowed people on mass transit to reduce costs of running public transit.

You (and I) are entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts.
