I follow my inherited genes evolved over couple of million years. Try to determine what our ancestors ate and their physical activities. Meat was never the main diet. If it was, like every other carnivore we would have protruding canine teeth and our bowel length would be small. Dogs, cats, tigers, lions have much shorter small bowel length because it is easier to digest meat than vegetarian material. Our small bowel length is closer to herbivores.

Our ancestors did not have guns, or good quality bow and arrows. It was not easy to kill an animal for food such as a dear or rabbit or fowl. But occasionally they got lucky and killed one. Other times their diet was fruits and root vegetables and some edible leaves which were not bitter. Agriculture growing grains is only 15,000 years old = 0.6% of human gene evolution.

But the one thing our ancestors did a lot was walk every day. And they did not eat all day long. Eating was sporadic at best.

So, based om 99.4% of our gene evolution, my calorie intake is all done within a 8 hour period, fasting the other 16 hours. My diet is omnivorous. Little bit of everything. In order of quantity Whole grains, beans, vegetables, meat, fruits, poultry and fish.

And nothing is more important in my daily routine than the treadmill every other day, for 30 minutes, set at 3 deg up-slope moving at 22 min/mile speed. On the other alternate days just a fast walk for 30 minutes first thing in the morning.

Result is I am at age 80, need zero medications, have zero pain in any joint or muscles, resting heart rate under 65. I weigh 152 lbs on a 5-8” frame.
