Maine has an economy?
What’s in Maine anyways, besides LL Bean?
A very significant portion of Their economy is the summer tourist season. This plan basically destroys any chance of them having a tourist season, at best they will get less than a month. That is absolutely devastating and most likely Destroying thousands of small businesses in the process.
Vacation homes on the lakes in Maine, Kittery Outlet Mall in Kittery, Beech Ridge Raceway, Lobster restaurants, Boating... and cement (only Cement manufacturer in New England).
The lobster industry, 100 million pounds in a good season.....scallops, clams, mussels, fish.....Bath Iron Works in Southern Maine; they build ships for the Navy....New Balance shoes.....paper, lumber, pulp, etc.; historically, a multi-billion dollar industry, has declined in recent years....
Tourism, the number one industry, multi-billion dollar industry; thousands of motels, hotels, resorts, bed-and-breakfasts, restaurants, shops, stores, etc.....blueberries.....apples.....potatoes....the elver industry in the spring; glass eels, which sell for $2,500 per pound to buyers in Asia; before quotas, a guy near me made two million dollars in a two month season....
Internet based businesses, selling a wide variety of products worldwide.....boat building, ship building....construction, etc.
The tourism industry this year, however, is going to be in big trouble because of the Chinese virus and the (over) reaction to it.
