Many reporters, scientists, and public health officials are now saying it appears as if COVID-19 was more common than we thought in the United States because many patients had it without knowing it. A number of them are expressing surprise as if it is unexpected, new information.
The news comes after numerous studies have begun providing hard data. Scientists are measuring antibodies in the blood of people never diagnosed with coronavirus. They are finding that a significant number silently battled coronavirus with few or no symptoms.
However, this news should be of little surprise. Beginning as far back as February, there were published reports and studies indicating the majority of coronavirus patients go undiagnosed. This could have been factored into calculations, projections, and public policy decisions many weeks ago.
Almost six weeks ago, on March 16, the journal Science built on the verification of the significant number of asymptomatic Covid-19 patients: “We estimate 86% of all infections were undocumented.” In practical terms, that means for every 14 people diagnosed with coronavirus, scientists believe there are 86 more who have it but will not be diagnosed.
By way of example, if the U.S. has one million documented cases and 53,928 deaths, the death rate is 5.4% when asymptomatic cases are ignored. But factor in the undiagnosed cases, as one must for an accurate statistic, and the 5.4% rate is more than seven times too high. There are actually an additional 6.14 million cases for a total of 7.14 million coronavirus cases in this example, making the true death rate instantly fall to .76%

Although the season tends to peak in February, in South Florida, doctors report they are not only treating two strains of the flu, they are also sending people to the hospital with complications such as pneumonia.
“About 80 percent of the cases we are seeing involve some type of respiratory illness,” said Paolo Coll, a family medicine doctor with Memorial Urgent Care Clinic in Pembroke Pines.
I’m positive it swept through my midwest college town with thousands of Chinese students back in January. I had the worst flu of my entire life, as did all my co-workers and wife. I took two days off work, which I never do. Took two months to clear the crap out of our lungs. We were all coughing for two months.
“Unexpected” yep, that’s it, that’s the ticket.
This falls under not letting a crisis go to waste. Once this thing got loose, no one knew what was going on. A lot of misinformation, and fear. Once a lockdown was proposed as the “answer” the left realized what they had here. A gift. There have been experts say for more than a month that the exposure is greater than what could be measured. The left has known this, reasonable people following this know it too.
But, the fear, the lockdown, the pure destruction, it’s the left’s dreams coming to life.
"Silently battled"? According to the Wikipedia article on the Common Cold, about 15% of common colds are caused by the Coronavirus. Speaking for the men of the world, I've had the Man Cold, and it's brutal. The only reason men battle our undiagnosed cases of Coronavirus silently is because 'the sniffles' makes us too miserable to speak. Many of us fight this battle year after year; women should admire us for our bravery!
They’re only bringing this up so they can inflate the numbers even more to justify their massive screwing up of the economy.
Fairly sure my husband and I both had it in early March. My husband had all the symptoms. I just had a minor cold but the doctor prescribed Z-Pack and it killed whatever I had.
I’m getting the antibody test tomorrow.

It’s wild out there, with so many shocking stories of suffering and death in nursing homes, seniors helpless and quarantined until they die, never seeing a soul from their own family, and then swinging the pendulum back to those who are basically just fine discovering they have coronavirus and are unknowingly liable for spreading it, among asthmatics or other vulnerable persons.
Talk about dazed and confused... the crushing of a historic economy and the threat of a surveillance state, we’re at a precipice sitting on a powder keg.
