*snip*
While the country as a whole has successfully flattened the curve, it has yet to show the extended period of decline necessary to declare ourselves out of the woods a squashing of the curve.

And most masks worn in the grocery store are not N95. The ones that are are seldom fit or worn properly
Hey a birthday :-) that’s always a fun occasion.
I wish her many more years and I won’t tell her you told the board :-)
that’s one great thing about this board. Whatever you say, you won’t have to worry about it at the next family party :-)
And don’t laugh at this but my mother at 78 had a lot more energy than now. My mother would think your mother is in her prime :-)
I accepted the first month. Once Trump came out in favor of it I figured he knows a lot that I don’t so let’s do it. But it’s enough. What you say is correct. Be careful with the elderly and sick and see what happens getting back to business.
Then take it from there
Squashing the virus was not the goal! Mission creep!
I gotta wear a stupid bandana now in Ohio. Or they apparently wont let me in.
I think I may even have to wear it at work even though Im in my own office with a closed door. Not sure about that one yet.
I am nearing 60 fat and have asthma. I deal with covid 19 every shift I work. If I was afraid I would have had to find a different line of work a long time ago. The virus is reasonably contagious and widespread in the community. Those who are going to get it will get it no matter what we do. Even the most rabid proponents of the lockdown acknowledge that. Not one of them thinks this saves lives - its all about flattening the curve to not overwhelm healthcare capacity. Funny thing is hospitals nationwide are empty. I think this has been here since January and circulated long before we knew it was here. Time to give up the charade and open up the country. And stop trying to make people wear useless pieces of cloth on their face.
absolutely no proof of point one, two, or three you made. Oh and wearing that mask for hours or worse days in a row? gross
i do the best I can to take care of my nonagenerian father in law. At our household the simple fact is we have 2 practicing physicians working in covid units. We change clothes and shower before coming home but odds are both of us have had or will have it. We cannot put him in a nursing home temporarily, thats worse. Ultimately you do the best you can and trust God for the rest.
While there seems to be some contradictory opinions, the data seems to indicate that surgical masks are not particularly effective in limiting the spread of the virus. The homemade cloth masks likely are even less effective. An N95 respirator can be effective, but only if the user is properly trained in its use and a proper fit test is done. Dont confuse N95 respirators with the masks that most people are wearing. A dust mask or a handkerchief or bandana wrapped around ones face are likely doing very little good.
Are they quoting someone using the word squash? That is not possible. You can only isolate the vulnerable.
How will they know if you are wearing it or not if you are alone in your office ? In our office in the hospital none of us wear masks and there are often 3-4+of us in there. We put them on when we go outside the door but they cannot make us wear them in our office
And those N95 masks are combined with a gown and gloves as well as a full face shield and often negative pressure airflow when used in the hospital. Im still not convinced they do much but there you go.
Effin propaganda.
Lesson of Spanish Flu: It must run its course.
Sweden will be a case study for decades, but it doesn’t reverse the damage wrought by political opportunists on the left and their supporters still deeply-embedded in bureaucracy.
Glass door. Worse yet, the infamous safety guys are one office over. But Im not clear yet on the mask at work directive from DeWine. Havent had a chance to see details.
Reading between the lines: the devil is in the dose.
Health care pros are exposed to huge viral loads, and know how to fit their masks so they are sealed.
The general public is being exposed to much lower quantities of virus. Most people aren’t using properly fit-tested masks. Some masks may be cheap junk. But in practice, catching a small viral load in a grocery store might not be enough to get seriously ill. It depends on the individual.
Thus, masks seem more like a placebo. Nevertheless, if wearing a mask gets people back into the economy, so be it.
Your best isnt good enough. Only a full and complete breakdown of the American dream will suffice. Leftists are all about the destruction of America.
Yup. If you can still smell the perfume of a lady hiker that you pass on a trail, after you’re 20 ft. apart, the mask isn’t properly sealed.
I think it is very rare to find a viable bare-naked virus floating in air. The virus is in a small water droplet. Maybe a small snot droplet if you count all the stuff that comes along with it.
It is only necessary to filter the droplets out of the air to get protection, and the N-95 masks do that.
Typical tyrannical one-size-fits-all solution.
For example, I’d hate to be in a warehouse, walking in the path of a masked forklift operator. But that’s just me.
