I’m with you, Toll.

I’ve been groped, kissed, & fanny-slapped in the workplace on multiple occasions way back in the day when “boys will be boys” was the attitude, when there were NO rules against sexual harassment, complaining about it would automatically get a lady fired, and “unlawful termination” lawsuits were unheard of.

In those days we had no legal recourse and no choice *except* to fight— because if a woman suffered in silence, word got around that she liked it (the men bragged) & she’d be branded as a slut.

My response each & every incident was to scratch, fight, & holler at the top of my lungs WHILE the creep was trying to manhandle me, bringing other employees running.
No way I’d keep quiet or only cry to my mommy!! I don’t care HOW important the groper was—I’d scratch his eyes out!

And yes, in the early days I was fired on more than one occasion— and I was glad to get out of that environment.
But other times, the assaulter was fired.
By the time I was 40 (and still good looking) all I had to do was tell a groper that I would not hesitate to file a grievance if he ever touched me again.
The problem stopped right then, and word got around— don’t mess with me!

I simply do not understand these women complaining *now* about something they didn’t report in the 80s or 90s.
Especially at jobs (government, media & entertainment too) where employees have, for years, been protected by unions & rules which specifically define terms like “sexual harassment” & “hostile workplace.”

These “#metoo” women are barely into middle age, yet from the supposedly “empowered” feminist generation!

The right not to be manhandled in the workplace has been “a thing” since the 1970s.

“something they didn’t report in the 80s or 90s.”

If she had called the cops on her boss she would never get another job in the political world again. It was her word against his.

Her story has now been corroborated by about 5 people. She is telling the truth, but does it matter?

What you fail to understand is that the private sector took sexual harassment seriously and enforced the rules. Gov't, entertainment, etc only paid lip service to the rules while sweeping the reports under the rug.

My understanding is that Tara Reade did file a complaint, but that paper is among Joe Biden's "personal papers" in Wilmington.

Would Biden allow the public to take a look at those papers?

I agree with what you are wrote but the thing to keep in mind is this wasn’t just an ordinary job for many of them. This is their religion. They have a strong belief that they have a god (yes not capitalized) given right to have an abortion and that socialism and environmentalism are righteous causes. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for your rights or cause. Very rarely do they reflect and recognize that they could be wrong. They have too much invested to do so. It is their selected identity.
