‘He never said to inject toxic anything’
true; but his problem there is he was so non-conversant on the subject...clearly, if he had heard about it just prior he could have researched it and then, when speaking about it he could have at directed the conversation where he wanted...

I disagree. I think he did research it, as I found tons of examples past and present of exactly what he referenced being used in clinical situations.
What he did was phrase it as a question to the doctors, without trying to sound like some instant internet expert.
The press itself (King) actually had to admit that the internal UV disinfectant was actually true.
I will bet that a large percentage of Americans searched the exact terms he used, for whatever reasons, and all were either shocked or impressed to discover it was a thing.
Everyone running to indict POTUS for being uninformed had to then discover he knew more than they did. The progs and the pearl-clutchers were embarrassed because their prog family/friends were jibing about it are the only ones chiding POTUS about his remarks.
Internal application of UV light is an actual therapy. Applying ozone, peroxide and chlorine dioxide to blood is an actual practice. So, evidently, is inhaling ethanol vapors from a glass of warmed spirits.
Millions of people gargle w/3% peroxide. If it’s an old, opened bottle, it has already lost some strength and is safe for either an oral rinse or a gargle.
The public was non-conversant and the media simply played off that for as long as possible until the public became conversant.
