Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Sunday that the administration will send more funding to states if necessary but will only do so with bipartisan support.
There is an emerging battle over whether to fund state and local governments in the next stimulus bill. Democrats including Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have vowed to include such support in the legislation.
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked Mnuchin if President Trump would back giving aid to the states as several governors across the country are requesting.
Mnuchin responded that the president had heard from governors, and the administration would consider providing this money to the states.
But our focus right now is really on execution and thats what were focused on, he said, adding well win this war, if we need to spend more money we will, and well only do it with bipartisan support.
Wallace also asked the treasury secretary if hes concerned about having a national debt higher than the countrys GDP. Mnuchin said low interest rates have been helpful but the administration will have to look into how to handle the debt.
Were going to need to look at over time how we deal with that issue, he said. But right now, were in a war and we have to protect American workers and American business, and were going to do whatever we need to take to do that.

I am a small business owner and operator. Unless the economy is revived soon, we are toast. As a 68 year old, the value of the business, my equity in the building, and modest amounts of compensation represented my future. If all that goes it is hard to figure we could keep our modest home which we have owned for 36 years. We also have a small rental property yielding positive cash flow. If we lose our tenant or he doesnt pay,!that will be toast.
Until 60 days ago everything was great. Now it is gloom. There are millions of people who will lose their businesses and homes and savings.
Help.
We also have a small rental property yielding positive cash flow. If we lose our tenant or he doesnt pay,!that will be toast.

Be careful, if they keep it up you will have to stock your tenants refrigerator since you can’t evict them.
May as well just turn the place over to the tenant and/or the county and let them worry about paying rent.....(somewhat sarc etc)
How about opening up the economy and let’er rip. Then there will be no need for more funny money.
No, No, No! We have enough money on the table - let it work. And if (God forbid) there really must be more spending let it be next year with a new Congress, not this bunch of nincompoops.
Well, I feel for you and I’m sure there are millions in similar situations.
I write an email to the governor every day which says:
“Dear Comrade Bashear,
LET OUR PEOPLE GO!!!
