As more states push to reopen their economies, many are falling short on one of the federal governments essential criteria for doing so having an efficient system to track people who have been physically near a person infected with the coronavius.
An Associated Press review found a patchwork of systems around the country for so-called contact tracing, with many states unable to keep up with caseloads and scrambling to hire and train enough people to handle the task for the months ahead. The effort is far less than what public health experts say is needed to guard against a resurgence of the virus.
The result is a wide array of strategies and little national coordination. With few exceptions, most states reviewed by AP are going it alone. Many other countries dealing with the pandemic are taking a national approach to testing.

That sounds like a great plan, but by their own words its being finalized and customized. It hasnt been tested, said Dr. Harry J. Heiman, a professor of public health at Georgia State University. The idea that were going to start opening the doors before these things are in place, I think is irresponsible.

The professor is annoyed that Governor Kemp decided to open up businesses before contact tracing system is working...
I would not be surprised that some Democratic governors would refuse to end the shutdown because contact tracing system is not ready...It is a nice excuse...
I don't think the shutdown will ever end if we insist on getting some huge contact tracing system...
I don't want some new national agency to do contact tracing...
This article suggested that such an agency would be a good idea, mentioning South Korea as an example...
I recommend the State and National Infectious Tracing Command Headquarters. Agents can be known as SNITCHes.
This is the dumbest idea ever conceived by mankind.
Never let a crisis go to waste...
Feds will pay for “X”.
States seek people to do “X”.
Federalism turned on it’s head.,
I guess we can anticipate President Trump coming out and dumping on even more Governors who want to open their states until this stupid criteria is met!
I’m really starting to get worried that Trump’s heart isn’t into getting the economy open very fast! He appears to be under the Svengali spell of Fauci and Birx!
Lol

I wonder how long before it’s not voluntary anymore
I don’t want anyone tracing any thing.
Just another excuse to keep this charade going.
This shut down will end when enough of us ignore it long enough.
This is nothing but public health acting out their wet dreams and fascists seeing what works and how to make it work. Go to any Next Door page and its filled with true believers.
It is disgusting and time for it to end.
Once the panic is over, these new hires can be retrained for vote harvesting.
In contrast, everyone will become exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Most who come in contact with the virus won't become infected with the virus. Most who become infected won't develop symptomatic disease. Most who develop symptomatic disease will develop only mild disease.
About 0.02% will actually die from the disease.
IMO, history will show that this has been the most widespread mass delusion in the History of Man.

I’ll do it for 35 bucks an hour on salary + pension.
Outside of that......
Nah.
Many Democrats using the virus to put community organizers on the public payroll a la Gretchen Whitmer.
I think this has become too personal for Trump on a couple of levels.
He seemed to shift course and tone when his friend in New York got sick with the virus.
He seems to have developed a warm personal friendship with Debbie Birx.
He’s human.
Get ready for your yellow stars
