The Donald became over exposed giving daily pressers. The pressers devolved into a Sarah Huccabee Sanders fiasco with WH correspondents making speeches, asking gotcha questions, demanding Trump confess to failure and then distorting his message.
Trump did very well having pressers with a helicopter in the background. He should return to that format.

the national political class operating out of DC has very effectively isolated Fox News as a wingnut outfit, while burnishing the reputations of the traditional networks...the people you mention would be dismissed from the start if they attempted to moderate a presidential debate...

These are the same dishonest people who will “moderate” the presidential debate. They will also leak the questions in advance to their preferred candidate. There will be no consequences when their dishonesty is discovered.

I agree. Trump should adopt the approach used in the NFL Draft for his pressers. Send them all home and make them Skype in. He selects one at a time. No more shouting or interrupting him.

I agree that Trump needs to follow Newsom’s procedures for press briefings. They become increasingly hostile and the only reason the press critters are there is to poke the bear.

The pressers should be done via Skype (due to Wuhan Virus). He selects whom he wants to ask the question.
Remember at the beginning of his administration, he had “lesser known” news sites ask questions ? What happened to that campaign promise?
He should do it on line where they can moderate the briefings.
