While Texas is one of the more aggressive states in its reopening schedule, one town has made the decision to outpace even Republican Gov. Greg Abbotts ambitious timeline. Colleyville, Texas has become the first city in the state to reopen several non-essential businesses and organizations, including churches, gyms and salons.
Colleyville Mayor Richard Newton became the first in Texas to issue a proclamation allowing churches, retail stores, gyms, salons, massage parlors and restaurants to reopen Friday with social distancing ahead of an order by the Texas governor expected next week, The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.
The L.A. Times describes the response to Mayor Newtons proclamation as fraught with confusion, frustration and worry from county authorities, mayors from neighboring towns, and some residents from the small town of 27,000 people, more than half of whom are 65 or older while a about half of the residents who responded to a Facebook poll supported reopening.
Southlake Mayor Karen Hill said businesses from her city are panicking. Our businesses are panicking. They dont know whats going on, said Hill, as reported by the L.A. Times.

Could the dam be bursting?
Mayor Karen. But if course.
Easy - if you as a small business owner don’t feel safe - don’t open.
Easy - If you as an individual don’t feel safe with things opening up - don’t go out.
I think it will go all right, and just a few miles is DFW... and we can get the entire America herd immunized.
“Our businesses are panicking. They don’t know what is going on”
BS they know damn well what is going on, they are losing their business, worker bees living paycheck to paycheck are getting hungry, you can’t feed your kids so you sit on your ass and wait for the fed, state, county, city to tell you what to do? I don’t think so. This is in my county Tarrant County - Fort Worth, I anticipate full bars and restaurants May 1st.
What are they afraid of?
Probably panicking because they see competitors opening while their business continues to crumble.
MM lets see how do you dampen and infect a reopening your relocate the infected from infected states in the dead of night
Of course it is. People are pretty smart when you get down to it. Why should a barber shop in a small community where there has never been any virus refuse to cut his regular customers hair? He may want to limit his business to his known former customers to prevent drawing outsiders into his community but thats just being smart.
Only if the public enters the businesses opening....and have the cash to spend.
Easy - if you as a small business owner dont feel safe - dont open.
Easy - If you as an individual dont feel safe with things opening up - dont go out.
It’s really that simple. This nightmare must end now!
I wonder if that Mis-identification was intentional? I looked her up to see if she is a dhimmicrat (of course she is!) and most sites say that “Laura Hill” is the mayor of Southlake.
They opened Salons etc. so people wouldn’t look like they’d been caged for weeks when they go back to work.
Let the businesses reopen and let all the doomsayers stay home under their blankets.....
Probably panicking because they see competitors opening while their business continues to crumble.

Exactly what I am thinking.
It’s not all that complicated is it.

Sheltering in place is exactly backwards from what we should be doing! We need “herd immunity”!
In other words when we stop interacting with other people our immune systems begin to weaken! When we do eventually go out we will be subject to all kinds of whatever diseases are out there. If only the infected people had been tested and sheltered in place things would have been a much better way to manage covid19 which is little more than a flu with the same death rates.
Now when we eventually go out our immune systems will be weaker than before.Really dumb move by Fauci.
That’s actually an excellent way to handle it. Kudos.
