“I’m delighted that today the first human trials of a vaccine against coronavirus are happening here in the UK,” Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock said in a video statement.
Hancock, also an MP for West Suffolk, said officials “have all got our fingers crossed that this goes okay.”
The vaccine candidate was developed by the University of Oxford, which didn’t immediately respond to a request for more information. Three lead researchers said in a statement Tuesday that the trial would start this week. The trial is being run by the Jenner Institute and Oxford Vaccine Group.
Researchers announced last month that they started screening health volunteers for the trial, which will analyze the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine.

The vaccine is made from the ChAdOx1 virus, a weaker version of the common cold virus adenovirus, that has been genetically changed so it can’t grow in humans.
Genetic material was added to the construct to make proteins from the the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus called Spike glycoprotein. The goal is for the vaccination to trigger an immune response to the protein that will help stop the virus from entering human cells.

In the movies, this is usually the part where the vaccine to cure one problem results in a larger problem, like turn people into zombies.
You anti-vaccine people perplex me. Horrible diseases like smallpox and polio are no longer because of vaccines. I’ve had a flu shot every year for the past 40 years and have had a flu virus only one time. Ask someone who has gone through getting shingles if they wish they had gotten a vaccine. I know someone who got shingles and it sounded to me worse than than that torture scene from Marathon Man..is it safe?...once again is it safe?
My bet is that it is not going to work
It’s not Anti-Vaccine, it’s that there has never been a successful vaccine for any type of Coronavirus. Small Pox and Polio are different types of Virus’. Coronavirus’ constantly Mutate which makes trying to develop a vaccine next to impossible. There is still no AIDS Vaccine, same reason, constantly mutating.
So if you think there will be a vaccine for this virus, not anytime soon, probably never.
