Hillsdale College and its Barney Charter School initiative have launched a series of more than 40 free YouTube videos for parents and their children engaged in at-home learning during the coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
The video series is specifically focused on at-home learning during this time and is based on an American classical approach to education.
In one of the opening videos, Dr. Kathleen OToole, assistant provost for K-12 education at Hillsdale College, said, Classical education, at its root, is common-sense education.

Imagine the world if kids all got a good education, not a liberal indoctrination.
This is beyond excellent
This is exact what that idiot from Harvard was worried about.
YouTube banning in 10 . 9 . 8 . . .
This is an excellent idea. Many frustrated parents cant coordinate with the public school schedules and technologies.Families sharing a single device cant with multiple children keep to the schedules.Parents are currently looking for options with course choice inventory.
Count me in, with my 27 students. We LOVE the concepts of lerning values and principles over ideas that there are infinite number of genders.
After spending a good part of my life DE-PROGRAMMING my kids each day after school, I hope this is a Wake Up Call to many parents and they see how brainwashed their kids are each day in Publik Skrewel!
(They were my step-sons and I didn’t have a say in the choice of their education at the time.)
Love it. I may go donate to them.
Just sent this to my brother in NY state who home schools his three boys.
When you add this to Khanacademy.com, we are seeing a trend. I’ve said for over a decade that public schools are a 19th century paradigm that outlived their usefulness in the early 21st century, their primary functions now being a jobs program for the over-educated, giving out fee food to poor kids and free daycare for the country’s indentured slaves.
Getting more sites like this will blow the whole thing up. It’s about time.
“that idiot from Harvard was worried about.”
Must be the woman Rush talked about a few minutes ago.
There should be a thread specifically for this.
“spending a good part of my life DE-PROGRAMMING my kids each day after school,”
My nephew was faced with that a few months ago when his nine-year-old came home excited about how paying high taxes is a GOOD thing.
After a couple days of him “taxing” her to live there via taking bites from her sandwiches, a portion of the candy she had, etc., she understand and is adamant that “Taxes are BAD!” on Skype.
Even back in the 70’s, with my kids in a church school, I had to do the same thing.
I not only had to deprogram them, I also had to help them with their New Math homework and then show them how to do it in Old Math.
Paid off.
You betcha!
FYI
So where’s the property tax refunds for unused schools and payroll?
I watched the video explaining why Singapore Math. I was not impressed. That was enough to convince me that their program is a waste of time and energy
“Hillsdale College and its Barney Charter School...”
Why did the name the school after a Purple Dinosaur?
